Slopping the hogs
Return to DiscussionsRecently my neighbor has added some pigs to his growing farm collection. He is raising them for meat and has promised to share some of the sausage. I work for a catering place which as a side product of the food prep produces peals, stems rinds etc of lot of veggies and fruits, plus the occasional leftovers from events that because of state health laws can't be reused. So i bring them home for the pigs. I got home last night well after dark and beat I left the stuff in the car. This morning just after the sun came up I streaked out to the car and carried the tub of green beans and the dinner rolls back into the woods while buck naked and threw the food over the fence to the pigs. They were still asleep further back in woods so i did not get to watch them chow it down. I hope to take my camera back there next time i slop the hogs in the buff.

I remember slopping the hogs as kid on my grandfathers farm...unfortunately never got to do it naked :-(
I bet your neighbor wouldn't care if he saw you naked, tossing the food scraps to his pigs. He might know you are a nudist anyway.
when he came over and told me that he had got some pigs I was only wearing my very ratty barely there shorts which are basically an elastic waist band with fabric flaps front and back, no crotch or side material. He made no comment.
Brought more out of date food home for the pigs last night. Just after sunrise this morning i took the load of stale buns and too dry sweet corn out to them. I dumped then made some noise so that they would come. Did not take long for them to come running up

an added note I had streaked out earlier to get the newspaper , a year round tradition. It was not here yet, but it was a very pleasant temp and bug free early morning, stars above so i wandered my property a bit. I heard an engine start up and saw headlights going into the woods. My neighbor was taking water back to the pigs. I seriously thought of going back into the woods and talking to himbut figured me looming out of the darkness might startle him too much that early. I went back to bed and a few minutes later heard his truck go by. He must have a long day ahead of him.
The little pigs have been contained. gone 3 days with no hog invasion. The owner felt guilty about them eating the cat food so last night he brought over a replacement bag. I was tempted to greet him bare, but decided to slip on my barely there shorts. We talked some about the pigs etc and I brought up my habit of not wearing any clothes around home. He is totally fine with that, in fact, added he would too if he did not think his folks and sister and her kids who live on down the road might show up unannounced. He said he has played enough sports that he has seen it all and it does not phase him.
The feedings will continue as we generate waste food at my job.
