Caught hiking nude
Return to DiscussionsI love to hike and do it nude whenever possible. Over the years I found places that are not frequented by other hikers due to the difficulty of the terrain. However, there have been a few times that I was caught hiking nude by clothed hikers. I simply say I'm a nudist and hope I haven't offended them. It has never been a problem. In fact, most have stopped and chatted for several minutes about the area, where I hiked, where they were headed, etc. before moving on.My most memorable time was 2 early 20s women came around a curve in the trail. I hadn't heard them nor them me. No way to cover up in time as we were only 15 feet away from each other. We talked for about 5 minutes, almost thought they might decide to hike nude, before we parted ways. Was a great hike!
I've often hiked naked, usually in Spain or Portugal where it is warm. In Spain I hiked naked all day, meting other (clothed ) hijers on the way and exchanging a cheery Ola. In Portugal my hikes have been shorter and often with a nudist friend. My favourate caught there was twards the end of a hike, approaching the nudist beach which was our starting point. We were in the track leading to the beach when a minibus came towards us. My friend had already got dressed and I hid behind a bush. I heard the bus go past with lots of girlish laughter. When I thought it had gone I stepped out. The bus had waited and they all cheered.
I've also done it here in the UK. I know a local historic attraction well, so knew the secret ways in. I started my hike very early in the morning, leaving my clothes at the starting point. I stopped to take photos on the way and must have got carried away. By the time I got near the end of my walk there were quite a few morning dog-walkers arround. I had no option to cover up so I just waited for them to pass.
Here I am waiting the sun was still farly low in the sky.
I don't look at it as getting, just getting seen. Caught implies there is something wrong with what you are doing.
I just go about my business and offer a friendly hello. Most people are amused and it gives them a story to tell. I've never had an issue. Sometime they make a reference to nudity, but I never initiate it.
Of course you have to use some common sense is choosing your location. But the only way for wholesome outdoor nudity to ever become accepted is for people to encounter other people having good clean naked fun.
Nothing like hiking shoes-only! Love it and found sev places not far from home. Met up with clothed walkers sev times only had 1 objection. I sometimes leave all my clothes in the car, esp if its an early morn hike - its lovely to walk as dawn is breaking and get the 1st rays of the sun, so peaceful!
I did a bit of nude hiking in Death Valley. I was seen, from the back, by some other 4x4'ers while up on a trail. I got the "thumbs up". The hikeswere short and sweet and I'd like to go again and stay a few days and take some longer nude hikes and even some more nude 4x4'ing. The chances of being seen are very minimaland because of that ... it's possible that I could get my wife to do it and even some of my DV camping, 4x4'ing friends to give a go. :D
For the last week or so we've had great weather and I have been out for my naked walks everyday. I have a place just on the outskirts of my city along a canal where I can go for hours during the day and not have to worry. There are occasionally people, most on ATVs or motorcycles, but I typically don't worry about them and no one has complained.
Actually ... we both have been "caught" along with about 90 other nudists, running, jogging, walking, hiking ... the Bare Burro 5K at Olive Dell Nudist Ranch. I remember a group of dirt bike riders (3)stopping their ride to let us pass. They smiled and even gave a thumbs up to all those participants. I think this shows that nudists and textiles CAN coexist without incident, without harm and with respect for one another. I think that's why I like ODNR so much, besides the people and owners. There is chance of passing other hikers, that are covered, and there's no judgmental attitudes on either side. For them ... they are venturing into an area of a known nudist park and "we" venture into an area where textiles might be. A mutual respect from both sides. That's what we should have in society.
I hike nude anytime I can, if I am in a heavily populated textile area, I always have a pair of running shorts handy to slip on (with the lining removed). I have been caught a few times and not able to cover. So far have had no issues. I was passed in Palm Springs at the Murray Canyon (not a nude area, but out of season) by a married couple who stopped and just talked to me about the rest of the hiking trail. We sat there for at least 30 minutes, and as I left, I turned to see them stripping down. Was a great hike. She was topless in seconds as he removed his shorts. Almost went back to hike with them.
Malenudist1966, what a great ambassador to the lifestyle you were! Hopefully, that couple explored other opportunities to get nude and adopted the lifestyle. I have been seen naked hiking twice, once on my hike in San Mateo Canyon west of Temecula, and once on my hike with two friends near Palomar mountain. Both times, it was no big deal, but there was never a conversation. Perhaps in the future, I will stop and see if they want to chat and try to be a good ambassador myself!
Don
I just remembered another funny comment. I was hiking with a friend and we stopped to rest. As we stood there, a couple of border patrol agents came hiking around a bend. We greeted them and one of them said "Well that's a new one." the other guy just snickered. It was pretty obvious that the first guy was new to the job and that encountering naked hikers was nothing new for the other.
Yep, there have been several times when we thought we were alone only to have someone come by. Just a friendly hi and we go on our way. We have never had a bad encounter with anyone.
Just taking some nude pics and they drove up.
Did I scare them?
