Return to DiscussionsI think it is also good for stripping to wear just a jeans without underwear and a shirt. So that stripping everything off is easy.
My usual routine is when I leave work. Shoes, socks and tie are off before I leave work. Trousers and shirt off as soon as I'm far enough away. I take the shirt off as you would a t-shirt, it's easier when seated and means you don't have to unbutton it all the way. I haven't worn undies in over a decade.
John is right though, if you can get undressed before getting it the car as it's much easier
These are not always needed:The only circumstance I need is that the vehicle not be a convertible, and that there is a place to pull off and get dressed before I have to get out of the car. .
I have driven a convertible naked with the top down. And I've striped off (and got dressed)in airport and supermarket car parks.
Not being one who intends to shock anyone, I found I was quite happy to drive nude behind in my sedan tinted windows in urban traffic, and with the windows down on the freeway.
I did wonder how noticeable my bare torso was and if that would encourage them to glance downward should they be able to see that far. I expect my chest may have been noticed, but doubt that coincided with aglance into my lap. I am careful to not drive or stop directly alongside other vehicles.
I'm not sure I'd do it without warm weather and may only do it as part of a beach trip.

Men driving shirtless but wearing shorts is reasonably common in the summer. I do it often. I suspect that is what most people thought you were doing.

In my experience, other road users just don't look round. They're all just too wrapped up in their own little bubble.
It's only when you stop, say at a road junction or in a queue, that you're likely to be seen by pedestrians. Here, the pedestrian is looking up and around so that they can navigate the same junction, or walk down a footpath. Also, you are going slow enough to be seen, and for the pedestrian to take a second look. When you're driving, you're not visible long enough for another road user to see.
That is of course unless what I did once which was to overtake a van and end up pacing it because of traffic in front of me. I looked across at him to see him looking at me and smiling. I just got a thumbs up before I then left him behind.
I have driven naked in slow city center traffic alongside a bus. That wasn't really my intention, being aware that bus passengers can see down into my car. It leaves absolutely no doubt and I think the bus driver drove alongside me intentionally. But what else could I do once stuck in the traffic? I could have pulled something over my bits but I didn't.
Another hour's nude driving today to the beach and back on a long lunch break and, since I swapped cars with my wife today, taking my crossover vehicle meant I could strip even more quickly (red lights through a shopping strip!) and I dropped my windows as soon as the transformation was complete.
The very first red light once the windows were down had me stopping in my lane adjacent to unoccupied space which was then taken up by a mini van. Even though I pulled up with a larger-than-usual gap to the car in front (so as to not line up with the cabin of the other car) he stopped with his window aligned to mine anyway. He initially leant back in his headrest and I thought I might get away with it but by the time the light changed to green he had moved his head forward and doubtless got an eyeful. I was not going to make eye contact! The rest of the journey (freeways to urban arterials) had no times where anything could be seen for more than a fraction of a second, even if they were inclined to look.
The final twist was on the road into the beach. There's a guy who comes to the beach on foot and at least on one occasion before I have picked him up and taken him as farcas the car park. He was there today. No comment was made and we both knew where we were going, so all good, but it does mean 100% of people who have hitched a lift from me have seen me drive naked. :-)
Yesterday was a now rare visit to the office, which meant another chance for a naked drive. Driving home naked used to be a daily activity , but now I'm a home worker.
This difference was that last night I got naked before leaving site. My usual practice is to remove my shoes, socks and tie on site, leaving my trousers and shirt until I was a safe distance away. Added a little risk /excitement, but nothing happened, and the earth is still turning
