Big Cypress area Hiking / Camping
Return to DiscussionsHey all I'm new to SW Florida and looking for places to hike/camp that I can drive to in Big Cypress and surrounding areas. Are there any secluded sites or trails in Everglades that don't require a boat? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I'm willing to drive a couple hours if needed!
I've been out to the Bear Island area and definitely would recommend that campsite, and the backcountry sites northwest of there, but they are closed May through August and there seems to be quite a few hunters in the area.
In the Everglades National Park (currently closed due to COVID19), the only practical way to do naturist camping IS with a boat. The sites you can drive to tend to fill up during cooler months, and are too buggy in the warmer months, if even open.
