Return to DiscussionsThe incident at the Daytona Speed Week (now Bike Week) took place during the prelude to the 1973 Daytona 200 motorcycle road race. During the pre-race announcements, with everyone milling about, a young, well built lady came out of the pit entrance on what looked like a Yamaha 650 twin nude and started down the front straight in front of the flaggers stand. The whole stands erupted in a huge cheer & ovation as she made the quick ride. She rode down to the exit to pit road & entered into a huge crowd of folk . . . still nude . . . and was enveloped by the crowd. Security made an effort to pursue her but stopped in their tracks when the crowd did not move. She was safe there somewhere on the inside. It was truly a great spectacle & I have a permanent memory from that day. I was seated just past the flag stand about halfway up the stands. I had a perfect view!! Yes!!!
