Free Style Nudity
A group for those who want to be nude on their own terms - without the hassles and rules of organised and commercialised nudism and naturism. It is a forum for discussion and exchange of information, with the aim of allowing more people to "do it their own way".Photos are allowed so please add lots of them - they make for a lively group. For confidentiality I have set it so that only...
Eastern Canadian / Venezuelan who is bored of Oregon
Return to DiscussionsIt's been four years living in Portland a lonely existence with my partner from Montana, namely because the only one nudist outlet is the two nude beaches around that only ever see nudists in the summer, and then nothing ever happens in the winter. I do not hate nudist resorts but it's prohibitively expensive for two of us. In Canada, nudists gather all seasons of the year including during winters. I also do not hate flying away but that becomes prohibitively expensive and unsustainable as well.
More recently, if it tracks interest, I'd like to go camping and paddling naked along the Willamette River, or on Pitt Lake in British Columbia to also reach Pitt River Hot Springs, but this is reserved to the summer months only.
Yeah, Winters are not really an active time for nudists in the greater Portland/Vancouver area. I've gone to Common Grounds, a clothing optional spa there, but the costs are such that I couldn't do it with any regularity.
You could drive out to Cougar or Bagby Hot Springs.
Hidden Springs Nudist Club, a nonlanded AANR club has bare bowling events in the winter, and the costs aren't much higher than regular bowling. When they can find one they sometimes rent a pool for nude swims, but pool owners seems to have a problem renting to a nudist group.
Periodically search meetup.com for nudist groups in your area, as there have been some in the past, but they died due to lack of interest.
You may want to join The Adventure Group on meetup.com, as one of the hike leader, Evan, organizes hikes which are usually clothing optional, even if it doesn't say so in the hike description. I should mention the group caters to the LGBT+ community. Evan and I last year were doing about 3 or 4 nude hikes a month on weekdays to avoid crowded trails. I expect we'll start doing nude hikes again when the weather warms up this Spring.
Also on meetup.com there are the Hiking Bares, which does hiking camping and paddling From far Northern California, in Oregon and also in Washington.
A nudist/exhibitinist website, nonshy.com is based out of Portland. You can adjust settings and/or simply not use the more sexually oriented parts of the site, which is what I do.
For gay men there is also OMEN, Oregon Men Enjoying Nudism, but their events usually have an area for guys to have sex, and even though I labeled myself as gay when I was still interested in sex, I enjoy nudist groups who keep nude recreation and sex compartmentalized and separate. I feel more comfortable at AANR clubs and events which is "family friendly" nude recreation.
There are two free nudist phone apps, Nudist Compass which was written for older operating systems, so you have to search for it online to download it, and you will bet a message saying the app isn't "secure", because it hasn't been updated for the most recent operating systems, but you can click on "install anyway". Another app, Nudlify, is also free, but If you set up your (Android) phone to have a "home" button on the bottom of your screen, part of the Nudlify screen will be cut off.
Portland does have the big World Naked Bike Rides. There are now two big rides. There are also a few smaller naked rides which are usually posted on the shift2biks.org calendar
I do remember on a trip to Vancouver, BC over 10 years ago, in the winter, they did have a nude (indoor) swim events while i was there. So, yeah, Canada does have more going on in the winter than here in the U.S.
