In my working years I was a Paramedic and Respiratory Therapist, so Im in the etc. category. I noted in those years the 180 degree difference between the purely sexual and immature emphasis placed on the human body by those who cant see beyond the lustful preoccupation with sex when looking on the human form, and those whose opinion that; the body in no way defines the person inside. Medical workers acquire the ability to tend to the human being in manner that of necessity puts aside external appearance.
There is a world of meaningful and positive growth of mind and spirit when people can level the playing field without regard to physical characteristics and social status. Appreciating the fascinating person in their entirety, seeing the imperfections of mind and body as they exist in each of us, gives us deeply felt feelings of acceptance. Through this self acceptance and openness to all others, we can move beyond shallow preoccupation that looks no further than the external form.
