Guitarists

The guitar is the most popular musical instrument in the world. Great guitars are considered a piece of art and demand a price to classify. Most of the music we listen to and love have the guitar as major player. Rock on!

First Gretsch and first hollow body guitar . This baby for delivered this morning and I am luvin it already. Gretsch Guitars G2420T Streamliner Single-Cutaway Hollowbody Electric Guitar With Bigsby Walnut Stain. Dark Ruby color finish My first Gretsch and first hollow body guitar today. It came earlier than anticipated from Musicians Friends nod to their service and price. Always thought my first hollow body/semi hollow would be an Ibanez as long time fan of George Benson. However, a hollow body with tremolo recently began to be super attractive.

So out of the box this looks really great very happy with the look and finish. It plays pretty good out of the box as well there is some buzzing on the higher strings above the ninth fret. I am thinking a pro setup should fix that. But overall I am happy with warm tone I get for jazz and bright mids for rockabilly or blues which is why I wanted a guitar like this in the first place. Still think I want to own an Ibanez but that for another time for now enjoying first Gretsch.

Anyone else own guitar?

I didn't own this one and have never played anything but acoustic Guilds which are "made to be played". My oldest is a mahogany small acoustic M-20 made in 1960 with the old headstock with the "lip" top.

Sadly, I have developed trigger finger in my right thumb and haven't played for a long time.

Your new guitar is a beauty, though, and I share in your excitement.

My Squier Strat given to me about 10 years ago by someone who wanted to learn how to play but gave up. Don't use it much because I prefer the Tele you can see behind it and I really dislike maple fretboards. I am playing it in video I uploaded recently to my profile page.

Well. My previous guitars have been a Vintage parlour acoustic, Squier Affinity strat, Gretsch G5222, and currently a '74 Telecaster, Sire L7V, and Ovation Celebrity Electro acoustic. Also an Ibanez GR200 bass.

Nice group of guitars. How do you like the Sire. I have seen a bunch of Larry Carlton Sires at local guitar store and online.

A Tele and Ovation Celeb are both in my current set of often used guitars just got the Ovation this summer. It is a super shallow body that I use for moving around and outdoor stuff instead of my Taylor which requires a bit more gentle usage.

Neither is an actual semi hollow Paul Gilbert (from Mr. Big) is one of my instructors and his signature guitars have painted on f-holes. He endorses Ibanez guitars and the natural one is a PGM80P that he gave me and the white one is a short scale Mikro. The acoustic is a Breedlove, the other hanging one is an EVH Wolfgang Special, and lined up in the stand are a Les Paul Gold Top Classic, an AVRI Tele, a PRS Custom 24-08, a Ciari Ascender Standard+ folding guitar, and a Standard Strat. My tube amp is a Laney Cub 12R (clone) and next to it is a Fender Mustang for when I dont want to wait for the tubes to warm up in the Cub. All of it funded when I sold my '53 Tele. Im not a good enough player for the '53 so now it lives in Nashville and has been on stage at the Grand Ole Opry and Ryman.
