Return to DiscussionsI will be there this weekend (15th and 16th) with a friend. This is only my second trip so any insights / recommendations welcome.
I'm gathering that parking closes pretty quickly. How soon do I need to get there? I'm thinking Friday won't demand as early of an arrival since it's a workday, but am I correct in that thinking?
Tips on reasonable accommodations would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind being a few miles out if it saves money but still keeps it feasible to arrive early. Of course at too far a distance the gas costs of driving back and forth outweigh the savings.
Probably gonna pack a cooler, but I read of concessions once. Is that an option if I grow weary of cold food?

Stayed until nearly 10 talking with a regular named Jeff.
At 10:00 PM (park closing time), the rangers start ticketing cars still in the parking lot, so be careful with that.
Yeah, Jeff was extra anxious about that, although he was the one who wanted to stay just as long as possible. (I would have been fine leaving at 9.)
I did get back in time to see the sunrise, although it was cold. Was there sun-up to sun-down, got a little burn, just a little, it's already faded (i.e. the burn, hopefully the tan will deepen over the next couple days as my body responds with more melanin). Good weekend all around.
