I started at the YMCA in Colorado, at three and a half when I learned to swim. My Y was old school in the 50's. Men and boys swam nude. When I joined the swim team at 5, we were nude. It was that way until 1968 when they combined with the YWCA and converted the boys locker room to the women's. We then had to wear suits. The following year in high-school, we trained nude for two years until we got a women's coach. We had to wear suits because some of the women trained with us, so they could teach others to swim or improve their forms. We were disappointed but understood the requirements. I have always preferred swimming nude. I lived in Venice, CA for ten years from 75 to 86. Venice was a nude beach behind the Pavilion for awhile. When I left it had closed due to the volume of people on the boardwalk was to high and everyone wandering around causing issues. It wasn't marked as CO, we just did it because it was secluded. I miss swimming nude in a pool on a daily basis. Now it is only when visiting resorts that I get to swim nude. My gym doesn't even allow nudity in the hot tub or steam rooms, even though they are separated locker rooms.
