Jesus Christ and His Naked Life
Return to DiscussionsJesus was born Naked. Jesus was Baptized Naked. Jesus talked and relaxed with his disciples Naked. Jesus was beaten Naked. Jesus was crucified Naked. Jesus arose from the grave Naked. One day we will stand before Him Naked, and He before us Naked. Till that day comes, let us praise him Naked. Nudity has many meanings in scripture. We mostly hear about Nudity being a symbol of shame and guilt. But there are other meanings. The symbol of Innocence, Nothing to Hide, Relieving Truth and Vulnerability. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of Nudity.
I agree all. Only when I pray nude, I feel, that God answer my devotion. Wish, I could pray regular totally nude and barefeet in a church. Nudity is petend, the physical express of faith. So, I'm also nude for God.
You can pray nude at home. God is everywhere, not just in church.
Sure. God is everytime beside me, especially when I'm nude. I prayed nude everywhere. At home, in wild and other lonesome areas.
You reflect the same views as Jesus, who often prayed alone early in the morning while others were sleeping. He too found God in nature. The Bible neither says that he prayed clothed or naked. He prayed as he felt most comfortable and it was between God and him, which is also good enough for me.
The Apostle Paul had different views about the body and called it "the thorn in my side." Sometimes churches presents their views as one. They are not, and are often in conflict with one another.

Following the shame and abuse I experienced growing up evangelical, I'm inspired by perspectives like this which help me to throw out the bathwater and keep the baby. All the ways you cite Jesus as naked are essentially moments of transformation. I personally believe that Jesus' most significant transformation occurred spending 40 days in the desert. He was likely clothed in order to survive; nudity causes quick dehydration in desert climates. Whereas it's difficult to understand social views of nudity in Biblical times, the desert climate dictates that nudity is associated with environmental vulnerability at a minimum. Biblical metaphors which speak of protection from the vulnerability of the desert include the valley, garden and streams of water (seas have a different inherent vulnerability), which are also transformative.
Society is in a divisive period whereby we all need essentially to have right protective clothing. At the same time, transformation continues to happen naked and in safe places. I believe we need to go back to nudism's roots to offer safety focused on more physical and spiritual activities such as exercise, meditation and sharing common, healthy meals in designated places free of finger pointing, rancor and discrimination. Nude recreation can really re-create us to our better selves. It takes an active and committed engagement out of our lawn chairs, off our phones and on our feet. Nudism needs to go back to these roots.
