Return to DiscussionsOur first trip to HBR and certainly not our last! We appreciate all the communication between Jere/Sandy and ourselves. It made the trip easier.
We arrived in Cancun on a Tuesday night and fell victim to the tour/timeshare vendors right outside baggage claim. Cost me $20 to shut her up so we could go out to ground transport. We found the Lomas Travel rep and our transportation van was 10 mins out. We loaded up our carry ons and two other passengers and off we drove. Our driver was a bit timid and drove slow, compared to those we had later in the trip but we arrived safely about an hour and 20 mins after leaving the airport. It was close to 9:30pm when we arrived.
Reception was great; cool towels to freshen up, a welcome drink that my wife continued to drink throughout our stay. A really nice room with a balcony on the second floor. A swim up room was offered but we declined, only to regret it the next morning when we got to see the resort in the daylight ... next time a swim up room! Our first all inclusive resort and it took a little to get used to. Food and drink always available, always snacks and coffee available, 24 hr room service and use of all the facilities and restaurants at the neighboring resorts; Sensimar and El Dorado Suites. Without question, HBR was our favorite because it was clothing optional but we really like Sensimar and from we were told, HBR will be moving to that property in the future. We didn't care for El Dorado.
Great food and fun entertainment but the staff was excellent! From the door man, housekeeping, wait staff and reception ... always willing to please and do whatever they could to make your stay memorable and they accomplished that so much that it was my wife's idea to buy into the travel club. She wants to return again next year and maybe twice if our friends can go with us another time.
Beautiful grounds, great service, warm and muggy weather but when you don't have to wear clothes ... it was awesome. Met some nice people at the swim up bar and our favorite ... Esperanza, our beach server. Claudia from the front desk was pretty amazing as well. We're so glad we finally made it to HBR. Can't wait to get back! One thing that took getting used to ... Iguanas, BIG ones ... all over the place! :DDD
