A few weeks ago, a friend and I went out to HH for the first time, neither of us having experienced public nudism before (or each other nude for that matter). It was very cold that morning, but warmed some by mid-day. We had such a relaxing time even though the lake was low and the chill was a bit much. I went back with another friend who was visiting Austin a couple of weeks later and had a similar experience, very fun and relaxing.
The next day, I headed out to HH again, this time with only Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass as my companion. There weren't many people there, but it seemed that almost every person that walked by slowed their pace and stared for a while. Some for an overly long time. One man finally came very near me, so I struck up a conversation. He was very nice to talk with and even offered some useful information about HH (like the water level and trails I hadn't discovered).
That's where things went south. He offered to show me the trail and I gladly accepted thinking it was just friendly banter... he apparently had other things in mind. Once I realized this, I made it clear I wasn't there for wood sex, but to relax as I am, he backed off but I'm concerned I was just lucky he wasn't more aggressive. Is this common? I'm seriously considering never going alone again, but I don't know many people that would be able to go with me on a whim so it would seriously limit how often I can head out there. I also enjoy the solitude sometimes, even though I like meeting new people.
What are your thoughts? Is it "safe" to go alone to HH? Should I not engage in conversation while there alone? That would be awful, I'd think.
