Sleeping nude with random roomies a trip report
Return to DiscussionsWell my around the world trip is over. For the main portion of the trip I was with a small group. The company will assign you a roomie of the same sex unless you pay extra. I am too cheap, besides it is often fun to have someone to share a room with rather go off solo in the evening. This time at the start of the tour there were 3 of us single guys. Me 55 , Sean 45 and Andrew 22, The first night Sean and I shared and I was casual about my lack of sleeping attire. He said he was fine with it. The 2nd night was an overnight train so we slept in a communal group. The 3rd & 4th nights Andrew and I shared. he too said he was fine with my nude sleeping. We continued to rotate who had the single and who shared. I continued to sleep nude and be casual about being dressed even when awake. NO complaints. But about 2 weeks into the 4 week trip. Sean informed me that I could have the single the rest of the trip, adding " well you snore and " which he left unsaid. To be honest I was a bit hurt, but took it in stride. At one point another single guy joined us for a 10 day stretch. He , 22 became my roomie. I was also casual about nudity in the room he never complained. And as to my snoring he said it was just like his Dad's who was also on the trip rooming with his wife. At the end of the trip when it was down to just the 2 other single guys 2 single women and a retired couple I asked the group at our goodbye dinner what was the most unexpected part of the trip. Andrew's answer in his Scottish brogue was " nudity" and did not elaborateAll in all I got nude sleeps for all but one overnight train ride in. Well I guess no nude sleeps on the 3 overnight plane rides either. Anyone out there ever slept nude on a plane?
I was on a trip for work and had to spend 5 days rooming with a guy I didnt know from another facility. I am 33 and he was like 40ish. As much as I wanted to be naked im the roon I was afraid of how it would go over. The first night I just got into my bed and slipped off my boxers to sleep naked. I did the same for yhe next night or two. The the one night I decided to just do my thing and see what happnenes. I got my shower and hung out naked but I was in bed by the time he got back. In the mornings I was always nervous and would avoid getting out of bed naked in front of him. So our paths never crossed while I was naked...
It would have been nice to relaxe and be my usual naked self. How did you go about it? Just be naked and see what happenes? I was always too worried about what he would say or think...

It never hurts to ask. I have been in a similar situation and simply explained that I sleep nude and am over all more comfortable that way and asked if they would be offended. If they are, I still sleep nude, but don't flaunt it. If they say its okay, I take them at their word and stay nude as much as possible. You never know, they may feel the same way, but are embarrassed to ask you.

Interesting story; I'd say a good result overall. In reply
to your last question: Yes, I spent about four hours naked
under some blankets on a redeye from Hawaii to LAX. I think I
reported it here before. There was an aircraft change (757
to 767) so lots of empty rows and I grabbed the three center
seats so I could stretch out across them. After lights went out I put a blanket down to sleep
on, then slipped off all my clothes under two top blankets and
dozed off. The cabin was still dark when I woke up and
noticed that the blankets had separated a little at my chest level,
but I wasn't flashing or anything. It was a little bit of a
challenge getting back into my shorts and tee shirt under the
blankets, but the experience was fun, sort of a completing a
bucket-list activity without actually ever putting it on the list
in the first place. I love capturing those unscheduled
opportunities for some naked time.

This sounds like an amazing experience!

Ours are 2 slightly different situations. Mine I was knowingly thrown in with 2 guys who also knew they would be taking pot luck as to roomies for the trip. The trip was of limited duration and if things went sour, all parties knew there was a known end to it. And we could part ways and it would be over.
With you it is a coworker even if from another division. If he had strongly objected to your nudity he could have filed a complaint to HR. Seems silly but in this day and age entirely possible.
I was never in the share a room with a coworker position in a work setting. A couple of times due to some social plans like a ski weekend I share with a coworker. But that was years ago and far more timid.By the time I left the company , my naked habits were common knowledge and the subject of good natured ribbing.
Interesting exchange. Thanks everyone for sharing experiences. I've rarely been in such a situation and it was so long ago now, but there are three general points this raises, I think. (a) A point I've made in the past on this part of the forum: there are many people around, at least in 'the west,' who sleep naked but for the rest would not call themselves naturist. My (male) partner is one of these, for a start. But it's estimated that in the Netherlands 35% of people sleep naked, while 'only' 10% report doing naturist things (sauna visits excepted) - for example, nude beaches, naturist camping holidays. (b) As with everything, it does pay to be honest, which in this context means just casually mentioning that you find it a lot more comfortable to sleep in the nude and hope that's OK with room-mate. As we've read here, no-one is likely to really object and you can always add something like, "I hope it doesn't sound too kinky, but I really can't sleep with stuffaround me." We've had tales on this forum where the room-mate also sleeps nude (but might not have been brave enough to say so withoutsuch encouragement), which is ideal, of course. (The work-course situation is perhaps more tricky.) On the whole, people are more laid back about this all than we fear: even if they've not discovered it for themselves, they couldn't care less if someone else finds it better. (c) It's sad, but all too commonly true, that most naturists seem very reluctant to 'come out' as such. For as long as naturists are too shy and afraid to mention where relevant that they prefer to be naked when possible and it feels fine and normal, then everyone will be going around as if he/she's the only one, while in facttheir neighbour, work-mate, cousin is also naturist but also afraid to 'admit' it. There's a whole hidden society out there! Unfortunately, there are no signs of this changing and in fact in many countries it seems to be getting worse after a period of relative 'liberation'. But this shouldn't discourage us from doing our best, I feel. Actually, as things are developing, it seems often easier to 'come out' as gay than as naturist! (For the rest, the parallels are stunning.) It's a funny world sometimes. Hope all of this helps.
