I went and did it...
Return to DiscussionsOkay so I have been adamant about not manscaping my groin area for at least a year, but yesterday I ended up doing a bit of a trim. And before I put clippers to short and curlies, I stopped for a second and thought about some of the posts we've had on this board, about the pride I feel in my body hair, and about how the hair is part of my masculine self image.
I stopped trimming before because my partner wanted me hairier and I had maimed myself last time I had used clippers. But as I have started having more nude social interaction outside the bedroom, I kept feeling a sense of dissatisfaction with the way i look down there. Frankly, my bush was putting Karl Marx's beard to shame. It made [me] look smaller than I am and really just wasn't all that fun to look at. I felt like it was a mess I had to clean up.
How much did I do? Not much really. I just put on a cock ring, used scissors to trim the copious tufts that stuck out along the base, and used clippers with a #6 attachment to do some general grounds keeping. I'm still EXCEEDINGLY hairy, but everything is far more even. A best of all, I feel better about myself with only losing about a quarter inch of overall length.
Many of us have said that our body hair is part of our natural self and trimming it negates a part of our masculinity. But bored on a Sunday afternoon I couldn't help thinking that we worry about the hair on the top of our head and trim our beards (if we have any), but we turn away from trimming the verge because hairy is the way we are "natural." If we're so focused on being natural, why shave our faces or style our head hair anyway? Not many of us our proudly posting pics of our 3ft long beard and hip length matted locks, "natural" bodies be damned.
I don't know - those are my 2 cents and I thought they were worth sharing. I don't intend to do it all that frequently and I don't ever intend to going bald like i used to do several years back.
I am not advocating that we all go about cutting off all of our pubes. All I am saying is that it's your body. If you aren't happy with it change what you can until you're happy. For me, I'll stay just about as hairy, smelly, and manly as I always have - just more manicured.
