Locker Room Nudists
People that go totally naked in the locker room without the need to hide themselves with a towel.
Naked in Locker room
Return to DiscussionsI will never understand why guys nearly fall over themselves trying to get from the showers to their locker with a towel, or that split second while they're trying to put on their first piece of clothing...like it's a crime they might expose themselves. I was raised in sports and use to group showers with guys my own age, as well as if we had events at the university, older guys as well. I consider myself lucky that I can be comfortable with myself to walk naked freely in the change room at whatever gym I'm at and not feel ashamed. Sure you get the odd evil eye, but if people are going to judge over that, then I consider the source of who's judging and really don't care. Bigger fish to fry this day and age!
My gym recently remodeled the mens locker room. It used to have a hot tub where everyone would go naked. They also converted the open showers into walled off stalls (floor to ceiling glass doors). It is completely amazing to me how the removal of the hot tub and open showers has created a far more sterile environment. Even the locker area has completely changed. People used to be open and now they are dressing under their towels. There are a few of us who try to keep the naked friendly environment alive, but the renovation seems to have been purposefully designed to transform the area into a sterile environment. It's such a shame. This was one of the few gyms in the area that was nude friendly.
There are a couple of factors at play. Where I live immigration from countries where men aren't allowed to be naked around each other has impacted things. Almost all leisure centres and and many private gyms have private changing cubicles. Additionally, the body shame mindset has been well ingrained into younger generations. They'll send naked photos to each other at age 14, but they are too ashamed of their bodies to be nude in a change room. It's gotten so bad that even in public toilets men pee at angle away facing the wall to avoid the possibility someone might see the tip of their penis.
alot of males are 1. homophobic ( i know being naked with other men like in a lockerroom IS NOTTTTTTTTTT A GAY THING) or 2. self conchish (spelled wrong) of their bodies. but i 5,000 % agree with you that there should be nudity in the locker room being we are have the same parts some bigger than others some smaller than others. but still should be able to be naked in the lockerrooms of gyms!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its the only way to be. The locker room at the pool I use now has individual cubicles with lockable doors. I shower with the door open, rinse off, take off the speedos, rinse them and walk back to my gear, no towel, no cover up, not sure what the issue is, it's a change room. I take my time getting dry, then putting some lotion on etc, often chat with others and when you are relaxed in this way, others often mimic your behaviour. It's my attempt to change how people behave in this change room anyway.
Wanna be more like Jesus? Tell the conservatives in the locker room its your religious right to be more like Jesus and be nude. This movement of body shaming must be stopped.
Not only was Jesus (or Yeshua as he went by) Jewish, brown-skinned and died naked, he was also born naked and lived part of his life naked. If his disciples worked naked on their boats fishing, as was customary for the time, whos to say part of their ministry wasnt done naked? Whos to say that Jesus didnt live out and practice his belief to be like a naked Lillie of the Valley?
Im part of an online group called Jonathans Circle on mewe.com which examines the connection between sexuality and spirituality, much but not all a Christian focus. So now I just got a book on the Tantric Jesus and believe that my journey involves claiming my own embodiment as I believe Jesus did, though through the ages, a lot got scrubbed out. Ill claim it anyway.
I'm very happy you responded! Though I do not practice any organized religion, I often help those who do. Understanding the person whom someone worships is the foundation for dismissing dogma that has been created to fit the times. All these additions must be dismissed to get to the heart of the worshipped!
