Locker Room Nudists
People that go totally naked in the locker room without the need to hide themselves with a towel.
Weird ... !
Return to DiscussionsI was in the steam room of my newly favorite YMCA. They had a sign up demanding covering when in the steam room. So, this guy comes in, stand up against the wall, and is nude except he held up his towel like a curtain out in front of him. Almost busted out laughing. I was the only other one there.
The newer YMCAs seem to regulate nudity more than the old school ones. Strange since when I was young it was nudity vs. textiles that was mandatory. If you have some textile within reach, Id say be a bit flexible with the regs, as you also found others equally confused by the policy.
Ive not been asked to wear anything yet. Im a man in a mens locker room. Nude is normal there. Im sad when I see all the women with a penis wearing a towel skirt. Ashamed little girls. Keep it nude. Keep it authentically masculine and free and safe. Encourage a nude shower or sauna or steam even if youre the only nude one. Remember, Jesus died nude....Christians...be more like Jesus. The Y is a Christian organization, remind them youre nude as part of your religion...you cannot be religiously oppressed by being ashamed of His creation.
That's a shame. The Y I go to also has sings up saying please cover up. I don't care I sit there nude, and I have noticed if one person drops the towel or shorts and sits nude, others will follow. Society needs to lighten up a bit
I think this is a US thing! There is no sign like that in Canada at the Y. Many people, including myself, are fully naked, in the locker room most of the time.
Not only is it a US thing but also generational. I find it highly ironic the younger generations are triggered if they have to share a shower in the locker room while being addicted to porn on their smartphones. I think that is rather weird...!I think this is a US thing! There is no sign like that in Canada at the Y. Many people, including myself, are fully naked, in the locker room most of the time.
Sadly, even in schools, where, in MY day, after phys-ed, the class HAD to shower - open plan showers at that, nowadays, after physical exertion and being all sweaty, they just put their clothes on and stink for the rest of the day. If they were COMPELLED to shower - NAKED, they would learn to lose their inhibitions and shame and accept it as the norm.
Absolutely. Exactly my experience and I couldn't agree more. We not only had to shower, our phys-ed teacher actually took attendance while we were in the showers so he could make sure we took them and to stress the importance of showering. He talked to us the first day of class in 7th grade, even though I had been showering with the boys the year before, that we all had to wear a jockstrap and we all had to take showers. He said that we would all be naked and we just had to get used to it. It was a long time ago but I seem to remember he reminded us that men in the armed services (the U.S. was in Viet Nam at that time) all had to shower together and reminded us that we would be doing it all through high school and college we would have to shower together. He told us everybody looks a little different but all basically the same. He said the most important thing was to get clean after being sweaty and that our friends and girls wouldn't want to come near us after getting sweaty. The funny thing was that we were all mostly circumcised and it was in those showers one of those first days I saw my first uncircumcised penis. We also saw a health film (the boys and and girls saw separate films at separate times) showing the importance of showering thoroughly. It showed some boy showering at home, it showed a boy learning to shave and it showed a group of high school guys showering together, discreetly filmed to screen nudity, but it showed us it was normal and important to cleanse ones body and normal to be naked with your own sex. This is no longer seen as "normal" or necessary. My nephews, 14 and 18 play multiple sports and have never showered at school. The group showers are used to store athletic equipment. It is actually considered a violation to use the showers. The boys smell like stale sweat and worse and it can not be good for their skin. Young men use my local gym and do the towel dance and even though there are solid curtains on the individual private shower stalls I've seen them pull the curtain aside to reveal they are wearing shorts, underwear or bathing suits in there by themselves. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Since I and a few other guys stay naked, we get stares from the younger ones, but I try to pay no attention. I do go to a Russian sauna where everyone stays naked throughout, all ages, and it's so free and relaxed I love it.
Its such a shame that the young are encouraged to be shameful of their bodies and keep them covered up ...and its Outrageous that schools and colleges allow this to happen... the locker rooms are a learning curve for the young to appropriate their bodies and learn that nudity is a great thing .. we are all different and we are all normal and to appreciate each other, if we dont see our contemporaries naked how can we have confidence in our selves...how backward the world seems to get ...
