Good Camping/Hiking Spots
Return to DiscussionsHey everyone, I just recently got into hiking and kayaking. Now I'm starting to want to get into camping. Well naturally I want to have the freedom to do so comfortably. Does anyone know of any good places that I'd be able to go that offers good nude hiking and camping? I know about Tunica Hills in Woodville MS. but it seems like a textile only place every time I've gone. Are there any places besides that where I could go? Maybe in some parts of MS or even AL. Just looking to get out AMD enjoy this beautiful weather before it gets too cold to go bare. Thanks in advance everyone!!

I have not heard of the one in MS. It might help to ask some of the Tennessee people. There is a guy around Monroe that allows nudity on his land. I've googled about it before. That is the only option that I know of in LA. LA does not have hiking for people with clothes on in my opinion. There is one of the resorts in North Texas that I've heard people mention good trails.
i've never been, but i've heard of a place called gryphons nest in springfield, la. it's a pagan campground and i understand that nude camping is permitted. not sure how much hiking could be done since it's in a swampy area and you'd have to wary of the wildlife, especially the reptilian variety, but it might be worth looking into.
I'd be really interested in knowing about some naked hiking spots as well. Recently I've been traveling between New Orleans and Leesville and it seems the Kissatchie Forest might have good opportunities for some naked hiking.....without getting onto Fort Polk property....which could be interesting.
LOL
I've been to Gryphon's Nest several times. it is on a high place in the swamp and does not flood. The grounds and facilities are for rent. There is a 20 acre field surrounded by tree shaded camping spots, but not much in the way of wooded hiking trails, to my knowledge. The air conditioned clubhouse has a kitchen, bathrooms, and meeting space, plus there is a small upstairs dorm area. There is a swimming pool, up to four feet deep, I think. The adjacent hot tub can be heated for an extra fee. There is a covered stage, and in front of it is a bonfire area. A couple of large old oak trees are great shaded meeting areas on the grounds. There are also a couple of small pavilions outdoor toilets and outdoor showers. So you can camp outside or a small group can sleep on the floor inside, upstairs or downstairs.
All sorts of alternative lifestyle events are held here, in addition to the Pagan festivals and workshops. See the website.

Oh, at least one more point, of interest to kayakers, canoers, etc.: near the rear of the stage is a short boardwalk and pier for your easy access to the swamp waters.
