This does seem to be a somewhat common problem, does it not? All the articles I've read say everything from age to circulation to conditioning; I suspect it is a combination of the afore along with genetics. Alas ... not a lot to be done. That said, I've tried a couple of the things mentioned by previous posters and found that while maybe only helping minimally, it does seem to have slowed / stopped shrinkage. Regular useage (no pun intended) seems to have helped the most along with a daily, somewhat rigorous, exercise routine. It still works & keeps the wife happy so I'm good. May you others be as fortunate.
I feel a little out of place here, since I don't have a cock, but your post showed up in my feed and I think I might have something helpful to contribute. My husband and I are no spring chickens. I'm 78 and he is 81. Hormones decline with age naturally. Mine took a nose dive after having my ovaries removed almost 20 years ago. My libido flat-lined sharply and I suggested to my husband that we could just be "like roommates" without realizing what a devastating suggestion was for him.
About 3 years later, a friend shared her experience taking bio-identical hormone replacement and what a difference it made in their bedroom. I began getting BHRT a few months later and within 6 weeks, I was chasing my husband around the bedroom. I became a crusader for BHRT and continued until last year. BHRT can be quite expensive. I got it 3 times per year and was paying $545 for each doctor visit and had to drive an hour each way.
After stopping hormone replacement therapy, my libido declined rapidly and I started experiencing join pain and mental fogginess. I had my blood drawn a few times afterwards and watched, in horror, as my estrogen & testosterone levels fell off a cliff. My estrogen level had dropped to the level of a pre-pubescent little girl. I tried to get doctors to prescribe hormones for me but they refused because my last mammogram showed that I had Stage Zero breast cancer. I had that taken care of with a lumpectomy. Anyhow....I learned through my own research and much to my dismay, that it was the combination of alcohol and supplementary estrogen that was the real culprit. All my doctors knew I was getting hormone replacement and they all knew I was in the habit of making a cocktail (just one) for myself every day when I got home from the gym. None of them ever suggested that I eliminate alcohol. When confronted them with this information that I had unearthed, it became apparent that they didn't KNOW. My doctors all agreed that I should suppress my hormone production even further by taking medications that are prescribed for almost all women who are survivors of BC - - I was given a choice of drugs which caused thinning & dryness of vaginal walls, mental decline, and the potential for stroke or another fun drug that causes osteoporosis. Given the choice between these side effects for which there is no cure, or taking my chances w/ a recurrence of breast cancer, I chose the latter and gave up my "cocktail of the day" routine. Meanwhile, my hormone levels continued to drop and I became so depressed because I felt like the doctors had forced me onto a path of accelerated aging. And, of course, my libido declined steadily.
Then one day, my dear husband was doing a little research and came across some information about DHEA - a precursor to sex hormones which is made by our adrenal glands.....in declining amounts as we age. We found an excellent supplement from a reliable manufacturer and ordered some. We both started taking it. There were 90 tablets in the bottle and the directions indicated that the dose was 1 tablet per day although a person could take a maximum of 3 tablets per day. So I started taking 2 tablets per day because my hormones had tanked so badly.
2 weeks later, I had my blood drawn to determine my hormone levels and they had risen significantly - especially the testosterone. My blood test results were flagged as "high". I dropped my dose to just one tablet per day and had the bloodwork repeated after a couple more weeks had gone by. My hormones dropped down to the range where they normally were previously just before I was due for another hormone treatment, but still adequate. I was absolutely elated to be able to take back control of my body and my health. And my husband is also delighted with the difference it has made. As for him, he has noticed a difference in his libido. He hasn't grown a larger penis and says that he, too, has noticed some "shrinkage" as he ages, but his performance in the bedroom knows no equal. His erections are magnificent and I'm never disappointed. Besides the recent addition of DHEA, he also takes 40 mg of sildenafil (generic version of Viagra) before breakfast on the days we plan to have sex (yes - we're old enough that we have to plan for that), but he has been using that Rx for years.
The DHEA we're both taking has really made a difference, I would suggest to anyone who has performance concerns that they give it a try. We order ours from a reputable manufacturer way down in Arkansas. We learned of them years ago and have been ordering our supplements from them since the late 90s. I've never seen an advertisement for their products like you see for so many drugs on TV in the evenings.
We both plan to continue taking DHEA every day. I feel like it has given my life back to me. A few weeks ago, I upped my dosage to 1,5 tablets daily (I use a pill cutter) and had another blood test this afternoon to determine if this is the best dosage for me or if I should drop back down to 1 tablet. My husband alternates between taking 1 and 2 tablets per day. He has not had his hormone levels tested, but he certainly passed the test in the bedroom.
If you are interested in tryin DHEA for yourself, be aware that we are only consumers of this product and, as nerdy as I am, I have no medical or pharmaceutical training. As far as I know, DHEA does not give you a larger penis but it definitely will dramatically increase the amount of testosterone your body produces regardless of your age. Please feel welcome to contact me through TN email if you have a question I haven't answered. If I know the answer, I'll be glad to share it. If I don't know the answer, I'll tell you so.
