Planning to visit the Lakes in 2014
Return to DiscussionsMy 36 year old partner and I are considering exploring the North American lakes in 2014. Obviously cant do them alland would appreciate some advice as to which are the most beautiful areas and which have facilities for naturism, possibly clothing optional campsites.Having travelled Australia in a campervan (RV) this year we like the freedom that gives us and would hope to rent one in Michigan.Regrettably Australia wasn't too warm whilst we were there and it seems the months of June and July in North America are bestto ensure getting a tan.Currently nothing is booked and we are simply seeking advice from the locals.Would love to hear from anyone who considers they can help.Ken and David
Being new to nudism, I can only relate my experiences in the region. Two wonderful clubs here. Whispering Oaks and Turtle Lake Nudist Resort. Lots to do and great people at both clubs. Unfortunatly, neither one is very close to the big lakes.
Lake Superior is my favorite Great Lake and much of the shoreline is remote. There are no official nude beaches in Michigan. Spruce Hollow Resort is not all that far from Lake Michigan. My recommendation would be the last week in July or first week in August - these weeks have the least bugs and best weather.
Spruce Hollow is not that far from Otter Creek, which is being used as a nude area. I have my own secret spot North of Traverse City along the bay area. Actually it is Antrim County Natural Area and is not too widely used most of the time. So I just hop down to the beach, shuck off my shorts and lay out on an old comforter. Always bring refreshments...gotta keep hydrated.
