Moon Worshipers
On a recent vacation to Marco Island, Florida, I enjoyed rising early before dawn and walking along the beach. It was still dark enough to assume I was the only person there. There was a waning moon but still just enough light to see where I was going each day(~8 days). Marco Island Vacation experience
Return to DiscussionsOn a recent vacation to Marco Island, Florida, I enjoyed rising early before dawn and walking along the beach. It was still dark enough to assume I was the only person there. The Moon was waning but provided enough light each morning to walk comfortably along the beach as the waves slowly rolled into the sand. I soon noticed an unusual draw toward the Moon's energies and as I reached the end of the bushes on the strand I knew I had to get in the water...So, I stripped off my clothes and left them in the bushes like an old swimming hole scenario not wanting anyone to steal off with them, leaving me stranded and naked...Wait, that's another story... I waded out into the ocean. Invigoratingly cool (Mid March) and noticed the photo plankton sparkling at my feet with every swirling step. It was truely a magical moment. The sun eventually started to rise and I noticed dark specks moving up the beach... More walkers enjoying the early calm before the swarms of tourists invaded this sanctuary. About a dozen or so came as far as the end and beyond. As they neared I would move out into the sea over my waist as not to cause a stir...I believe they had a good idea I was naked and were curious to see someone in the water and soaking in the moonshine. Most were friendly enough to wave or greet with a hello and there were a few "regulars" I felt a commaraderie with each morning like clockwork as they came by... I was startled a couple times...not deep enough soon enough...and we all had a subtle chuckle... I know they wished they were with me but sadly no one joined in...Maybe next year.
