Naked At Home - 2014 / 2024 -
For people who like to be naked in the house...
Caught .... again!
Return to DiscussionsThe weather in Michigan was unseasonably warm this November. We had many days in the 60's, One weekend when my husband and neighbors were gone, I decided to do some naked yard work. About 30 minutes into the project, I turned to find a police officer in the yard. Not wanting to give the impression that I was doing anything wrong, I did not cover up. Rather, I just walked over and questioned what he needed. Apparently, the neighbor was still home and phoned in the complaint. He asked me to please cover up or go back inside. This is the second time that I have had the police come to house due to a neighbor complaint. The following week, I received a call from the prosecuting attorney stating that she had received the complaint and needed to decide if criminal charges should be filed. I have known her for about 4 years due to my job and that is why she called to give me advance notice as to what was going on. Due to our relationship, she decided to pass the case on to someone in another county. Due to Michigan's strict anti public nudity laws, a conviction could potentially put me on the criminal sex offenders registry. It took two weeks to finally receive a verdict, but I am pleased to say no charges this time. However, it was made quite clear that a third offense would not end well for me. If you live in an area where you can practice the nude lifestyle, count your blessings. Some of us are not that fortunate.
I am pleased to report that my neighbor has moved out. This is not to say the the next person that purchases the house will not have the same issues with my backyard nudity. I am hoping that whomever moves in will be more tolerant.
Fingers crossed that you get someone who is a little less repressed.
It may be a good idea to drop hints about enjoying sunbathing etc. to try to judge their attitudes rather than just wait to be caught.
I am one of the many who find it hard to believe how restrictive the laws are in your state.

You might consider welcoming them to the neighborhood and given an opening have a candid conversation about your nude practices. It doesn't sound like you have to much more latitude with the local officials.
When it gets warm enough this year just have a loin cloth on and if you can start chatting to the new person/people dressed like this in your garden and they comment over this say you didn't want to upset them by having nothing on and see what they say.

Seriously??? I wish I had just talked with our new neighbors when they moved in. Our previous neighbors were tolerant and he was accepting but too much time and being seen too many times by the new neighbors and their unwillingness to converse, made it difficult to break the ice with them , afterwards. To this day, they seem tolerant and willing to live and let live ... but wearing a loin cloth to meet your new neighbors ... not a good idea in my opinion. The way I see it, you have a couple of choices; Be upfront and talk to them, as I should have to our new neighbors, or carry on with your life and take your chances. I'd say ... communicate with them! ;-)
Fortunately, here in Australia (New South Wales, but I think other states are similar) the law is quite explicit. You can be nude in or around your home as long as you can't be seen from the street, footpath, public place or a school. That even includes if you have neighbours who can see into your back yard because they're elevated, 2 storey, etc. All my neighbours are well aware of my "hobby".
I pushed it a bit and was gardening nude in the front yard and got a phone call from a police officer who happened to be jogging on the stairs opposite (there is no road outside my place). She told me she wasn't going to take it any further but to be aware I could be seen!
Anyway, it's now midsummer here, about 25-30 degrees C during the day and I haven't worn clothes since Christmas, except when I have been out.
