Naked At Home - 2014 / 2024 -
For people who like to be naked in the house...
Why are people afraid to tell others that they are nudists?
Return to DiscussionsI agree with Rockdad. We both work with the public (she's a teacher). You must be very careful because so many consider nudists to be perverts and exhibitionists. We can't take the chance. Some day we may tell everyone, but not now.
With all the media tech that's all around us all now, could you imagine the uproar if the students got wind of any teacher, male or female, being a nudist on here. The pictures would spread like wild fire throughout the school and beyond. another teacher's career is shot to hell, all because of a life choice. You know as well as everybody, it only takes one mean kid with a hate-on. So why ask them to risk all that and deny them the oppurtunity to be a part of all this.
Yes. I'm well aware of the fact that you can't tell who is what until you chat or message and that's why we have that option here. Don't deny all because of a few are trolls. Everybody deserves a fair chance.
Hello I am under no circumstances ashamed of being a nudist. However, because I am a public official and work in a very public job I can not broadcast the fact I am a nudist and have been for many, many years. If I was not to lose my job and my lively hood I would not care who knows that I am a nudist and will continue to be a nudist.
I have the same problem with job related issues. We live in a very conservative community that has been trying to close the nude beach for years. As of late that seems to have waned a little but it only takes one politician wanting to make a name for himself to bring a whole lot of trouble down on us. Once I hit 55 and can retire that will be a different story.
A better question would be Why are people so afraid to admit that they are nudists?
I'm not at all afraid, but mostly I just don't casually discuss it, because it rarely comes up in discussion with non-nudists. I don't interject it into the conversation because really, my private life is my own business.Exactly! ;-)
I think too often, some nudists seem to think you have to do all these things, like ... opening a conversation with, "I'm a nudist," "I go to nude beaches, clubs and resorts," " I don't wear any clothes at home." We also don't see the need to casually discuss it, unless it comes up in conversation, with non nudists, and we're asked about how we feel about it or if we have an opinion. Then and only then will we engage in a general way, leading to more questions that usually reveal that we are in fact nudists.
:-)

I am not afraid to tell anyone I am a nudist, I never hide the fact that I am. On the other hand I do not have a neon lit sign in my front yard that advertises "Nudist Lives Here". I also do not go out of my way to let others know I like red wine, enjoy dogs or hate broccoli. It is just another facet of my life.
Why are people afraid to tell others that they are nudists? Because, sadly, it's simply not safe to do so in some circles. It's like coming out of the closet if you're gay. Some people will be completely unruffled by the knowledge and others will completely loose their sh** over it. It can be especially dangerous if you're in education or some kind of religious field where extremely vocal people might equate your being a nudist with your being a sexual predator or pervert. I am optimistic. I think things are changing gradually but in many places it is still not safe.
