Voyeurism & nudism
Return to DiscussionsFriends, being new to this group we would like to know your suggestions on the differences / similarities between voyeurism & nudism.
You're new to this group and making a lousy start. Nudism is not defined as a sexual activity. It is simply doing normal, everyday things without clothes.
Voyeurism is an activity that involves getting sexual arousal from spying on people whether you are clothed or naked. The stereotype being a drooling man hiding in the bushes and peeping though a woman's bedroom window.
You might want to rethink what your goals are in nudism.

I didn't read where he suggested or did anything but asking a question of a difference.
Well said Leo and Koala. A world of difference between the two. A voyeur has a very unhealthy view on people to want to spy on them. Looking at nude people on the beach or wherever is an acknowledgement that they are great looking humans.

I recently watched three men in shorts being hounded off the beach at Cap d'Agde for having this very confusion! As others have said: nudism is about going naked for the joy and freedom of it, without any sexual aspect. You might be more easily understood if you confused it with exhibitionism but even that is a bit wide of the mark. Yes, nudists like to see and be seen by fellow nudists - people watching or give-and-take.
Nudism treats the person as a whole, a human.
Voyeurism objectifies the person. Voyeurs only consider the person for the pleasure they can derive from them, usually sexual.
If you're involved in a voyeuristic activity in a clothing optional/nude beach, you will most likely be asked to leave.
If in a clothing optional or nude resort, you will be escorted out and most likely be banned from returning.
I wonder what the difference is. I have no problem being nude; I have nothing to show off. I also appreciate the nude female form; very much so. Do I Lust after it, well sometimes so, but I appreciate the feeling of being free, and I extend that latitude to the women. To be free without the fear of ogling is their right, and I respect that. It's only natural.
