Increased frequency of "Hi, I'm new to the group" with empty profiles?
Return to DiscussionsHas anyone else noticed? This group, and quite a few others I'm in, have multiple "Hi, I'm new" discussions by people with little information (if any) in their profile.
Some try to get people to contact them directly on private emails.
Some try to get people to visit other sites.
I don't know about you, but all the discussions below theirs are the ones that contain valuable conversations between members. Some of the "hi, I'm new" discussions are within the normal history of the site, but this recent uptick seems significant, seems to contain multiple people providing no information and seem to be using this as a hookup site.
Thoughts?
Look, I'm not trying to start an argument. There are some facts, whether you choose to believe them or not:
1. Certification does not weed out the fakers. It just gives them access to more photos, some groups that are certified only and some friendships that are "certified members only".2. Paid membership does not weed out fakers either.3. Your certification photos are not automatically shown, but that does not mean they will never be compromised. Keep in mind that their revenue is from site members paying. TN is not a major corporation with deep pockets that employs the top cybersecurity professionals to secure the site and protect certification photographs.4. The only way to know if a member is here for the right reasons is to see what they write and get an understanding of who they are. Submitting a nude photo with a TN sign or paying a membership fee does not do that for you.
That's pretty much it. This site helps budding nudists. You can't do that by forcing a certification photo or making them pay for a membership. Those two acts, if they were stipulations, would actually hinder budding nudists from making the next step.
To be honest, I'd like it if this thread simple faded. The point was to call out the increased rash of fake profiles (among some real ones) creating the "Hi, I'm new" discussions across multiple groups.
The trepidation I had in creating this particular discussion thread was that there are some new people, with rather empty profiles and no photos that do actually initiate "hi, I'm new" discussion threads and they are NOT the problem at all.
There just happened to be 4 per week instead of the usual 1 every week or two. It was statistically significant and was noticed, at least by me. Quite a few of those new ones went straight to asking people to Skype them, get on webcam or contact them using private email. Clearly, faker central as far as I am concerned.
There are numerous other discussion threads about whether certification and forcing paid memberships would do anything to weed out the fakes. Naked at home should not be one of them. Our group membership is good. I just did;t want anyone falling for the fakes. A little extra due diligence would ignore the fakes and find the real people amongst them. That's all. I would hate for a good person to get lost in the clutter of the recent rash of fakes. Can we let this go and discuss it in the other groups that are dedicated to fake accounts? I would appreciate it if the top hit on Naked at home was about being naked at home, which I am now and usually am.
Most often, my tend clothes leave me within 2 minutes of being arriving at home and cover me up within 1 minute of my departure from the house. At night, sometimes they don't get on me until I arrive at my destination, or are off before I arrive home. My home is my sanctuary. I get to be comfortably nude at home and I love it.
This certainly has been interesting to follow. Lando you most definitely feel strongly about your views, I believe you are mistaken about certification photos. It is my understanding that they are viewable only by management, so concern for privacy of security is misplaced. Many people choose to use them as profile pics, but you definitely aren't required to do so. I am in agreement that this thread is causing more disruption than it is worth. I happen to be certified and am a paid member, I believe you get what you pay for , much like voting, if you don't vote for your government don't complain about how poor it is. In the same way I feel that free members really don't have a right to complain about the content , policies or rules of the site; they are on a free ride. I won't be surprised to find that people will disagree with my view, and that is their right.
You'd have to leave the group. With all groups that you belong to, when there is a new post, it shows up in your news feed. It is easy to remember that this topic is not to your liking so ... just ignore it and don't come to the thread to read when it shows up in your profile. ;-)
You are so right. There are the clueless who don't, or can't, fill in info in their profiles and there are the fakes. How do we tell them apart? I don't think we can so we treat them all as fakes.
I don't get all the paranoia. I doubt those certification photos are saved. Just checked and deleted. For those paranoid about such things, have you ever gone to a nude beach in your life? It's quite possible a photo was taken of you with a telephoto lens then. This living in fear that so many people do here, just isn't good. If you have to imprison yourself in your own home and live a double life of fear just to keep an employer happy, then you need a new employer or profession that is more compatible or doesn't care. If an employer doesn't want me to be myself, why would I want to work there? Life's too short for that.

nudistphil2011: I'm not mistaken about certification photos. Only management sees them, true. Hackers do not care what site policies say. If hackers get in, they can take the entire database of certification photos and post them on other nudist sites. That's a fact of of life for cybersecurity professionals. The site administrators will not leak them. Hackers could break in and then the promises of the administrators don't matter.
As for complaining about content...I am not. I started this thread because it was obvious to me that there were quite a lot of fake accounts starting those threads and the frequency of them had increased. This thread was supposed to be a heads up to others and to warn them to be cautious. I'm fine.
There was a thread about Arielle leaving...the reason she left is because of accounts we are talking about. I just wanted to help keep our group members safe by forewarning them that quite a few are fake. That's all. I am fine with the limitations that I have.
I do have a question for you though. You're certified, you're a paying member. It is my understanding that you ( as a certified and paying member) would be able to see the few photos that I have posted. Would you mind checking and let me know if you can?
I'm a paying, certified member and I can't see your profile photos because they are listed as "Friends Only." ;-)
... and for some of you that seem to have a problem with this thread ... here's a tip ... stop coming into this thread and getting your towel in a bunch!!! If you don't like to read something or don't agree with what is being discussed, or how it's being discussed ... DON'T keep coming in here and complaining about it!
