Return to DiscussionsAt my house when someone stops by my Ma has trained my sister to beat me to the door as there is a better chance she will be dressed. I ain't got any shame and am proud of my body and don't really care who sees me. For some reason this embarrasses the hell outta my mother, but whatever. Out of the 3 of us I bet I still answer it 40-50% of the time. Now it's kindof a game between us and for me at least is great fun.
I think we all have constraints, restrictions and fears of repercussions, if we answered the door naked. It doesn't make either of us that don't any less a nudist than those that feel the need to do it. I've read and heard all the comments about this topic on a great many nudist websites, at clubs and resorts and even at the beach. I just don't think answering the door naked proves anything and "could" end up getting you into trouble. It only takes one person to think it wasn't funny and the vast majority of people do not expect anyone to answer their door naked ... even if there is a sign on the door.
So ... for us, we'll keep the cover ups close by and if we need to answer the door and there are no cover ups ... we will do what we need to, to prevent those on the other side of the door from exposure to our naked bodies, which they are probably not expecting. ;-)

I would agree with you and beachbums. I never cared for the, "Its my house and my rules," attitude. Unfortunately, we have to live with the rest of the world and that may mean compromise. Some people enjoy nudity, some are indifferent and some get quite offended. It only takes me about 30 seconds to toss on my t-shirt and shorts if I feel the need to answer the door. Normally, I don't answer anyway since its probably someone collecting for some cause of theirs. PLUS...they ring the bell and 7 microseconds later they pound on the door because of impatience, so they aren't worth my time. If its UPS I just slip on the clothes and wave to them as the drive off.
Literally to answer the door, I MAY stand behind it long enough to ascertain who the visitor is...After that, if they want my attention, I am nude and that's that in my home. Certainly if they want to come in they will have to accept my nudity. As for service workers, pizza guy or mailman/UPS, I will answer nude. If your job involves knocking on the door of a private home, you are going to be exposed to all sorts of things...I'm surprised by those who feel it is "polite" to cover up. That implies that being nude is impolite!Not so! Answering the door nude is all about your demeanor and attitude. I'm pleasant and respectful and I do not make my nudity an issue. I gently redirect other people's attention with a brief "I'm a nudist" then steer them back to their business on my doorstep. Simple and entirely appropriate.
I live in an apartment and my visitor usually calls from the security phone from the building entrance to let him in.. so I always know in advance who is visiting me..
If my visitor knows I am a nudist which is 99% times, i never cover up. If my visitor is a stranger like courier guy or pizza guy, again I open the door naked, as I dont see any reason to cover myself up in my own home for strangers ;)
I live in a block of four flats and i have to let them in by a security phone but i always leave the door to my flat unlocked, i always tell them to come straight in, im not naked all the time it is sometimes too cold to be, if they see me naked thats ok i have the right to be naked or wear anything i like in the privacy of my own property, my neighbour came in unnanounced the other day, i was naked on my bed on my laptop she was startled at first and apologised, she came to borrow some batteries for a remote i said i didnt have any and went away, i phoned her back later saying id found some and came back again unnanounced, i was still naked, she went away again and came back a third time unanounced to bring them back, they wernt working she could have just binned them or phoned me, but no i think she came back to have another look, im happy with that think i may go down to her flat later naked :)
