Teaching about nudism
Return to DiscussionsI've always promoted social nudism as best as I could given my limited access to legitimate nudist places and events in my area. Whenever people would snicker and make comments over the rare exposed butt cheek photograph they might see on Facebook (a nude yoga meme comes to mind), I would take that opportunity to preach the gospel about social nudism. One time I displayed a photo of me with just my face and a bare shoulder holding my dog up in the air and my friends went bonkers. All of them asking me if I was wearing any clothes at all. (Of course I wasn't).
It is strange to me that even still in our enlightened liberal era, most folks continue to have negative ideas about nudism and a total lack of understanding of the movement. Comments range from "that's gross" to "Ewweeee" and things like that.
I do my best to be understanding and pace my answers to match their receptiveness to learn more. Still I have very few takers. Seems most folks are comfortable with the status quo. Wearing textiles into a swimming pool in order to avoid having anyone see their perceived body flaws. Makes no sense to me.
As I am reaching retirement age which also roughly corresponds with the age of "I don't give a rat's ass", I usually am good about speaking my mind and being fairly public with my love for home and social nudism. Through my life and times this has caused me loss of friendships and even several girlfriends over the years. Still I wouldn't trade my enjoyment of simple, relaxing nudism for anything in the world.
Now single again, I am looking forward to a great and nude summer. Probably will make a trip or two to Florida and hopefully meet some of you all in person. That would be nice meeting the real "normal" people for a change.

I amazes me that people react the way. What is ugly or gross about the human body? To me they are saying they hate their own bodies. Plus if you are religious you are demeaning God's handiwork. I don't think we really can say that God's creation is gross.
One of the women I work with have nudist neighbours and gives the 'eww' response when talking about them.
She says that they're both fat and flabby and not nice to look at when they're using their hot tub.
My answer is then don't look :-)

The girl who goes 'Ewe' about her naked neighbours has been a bit of a revelation. Apparently she goes commando when wearing trousers, and is "clothing relaxed" when at home. She's even just told me about a NudeFest near us soon.
On the other hand, the girl she shares an office with went Ewe at just the thought of me taking my shirt off on a beach

I had a little chuckle when I read that. I'm convinced that society is more closed minded and conservative that it has been in a long time. With Schools not allowing pupils to shower after P.E. and not getting used to social nakedness I can only see it getting worse.
