Naked At Home - 2014 / 2024 -
For people who like to be naked in the house...
Called out as a nudist
Return to DiscussionsWe hosted a party recently where a long time friend says tithe group, "We all know you're a nudist." I'd never told any of these people, but I proudly admitted to it at the time. A couple of days later I reached out to all of the friends that I'd outed myself to to see if I could understand how they knew and to see if they had any questions. None of them seemed put out by it. More of a to each their attitude. But, I bet they would change their tune if greeted the in the buff the next time they come over.
To be honest...I don't know how I would react. The potential problems with my employment would be a concern, but as long as no legal issues were involved, I believe there would not be a problem. Still...retirement looms in the future as well as a possible move to further in the woods...then we'll re-evaluate. I'm glad it worked out for you.
My neighbour, who has been my fishing buddy for several years, now knows I'm a nudist. I am nude when he comes over for coffee and I have stripped off and fished nude while he was in the boat. I invited some nude friends over for an evening and asked him to join us. After a while, to my surprize he stripped off and joined us. He has done this a few times now. We are hoping he will join us next spring as well when we return to a nudist resort.
To the OP, one way to learn the reactions of yourfriends would be to greet them nude the next time. I'm not afraidonnot ashamed for anyone to learn I'm a proud nudist and have tolda number of friends and coworkers. None have reacted negatively, only a bit anusesmd usually. Jim
As I said (#5), everyone around me knows and accepts that I am a
nudist. They are happy to chat and joke about my nudism. But that
does not mean they want to actually see me naked. I respect their
wishes. So, whilst making no secret of my nudism, I certainly would
not greet them in the nude to test their reaction - unless I know
they are also nudists
I was outed to my son's workmates when they borrowed my camera to take photos at a party then went to look what they had taken. In the process they saw my nude holiday photos. Now a photo of me naked in the village pub hangs in my hall. So any visitor can see for themselves if they want. But photos are one thing. Standing naked in front of them is another.
Last Sunday I went to the public screening of myself and a lot of other nudists hiking naked in the Alps. After the film we had a drink in the bar. Someone recognised me and two friends who were also in the film and hinted that we strip. We didn't. Again being seen on film by a full audience is one thing. Stripping in a bar is another (I'd reserved that for my village pub).
I had something a little similar happen. I was on vacation and had met a group of guys who I'd meet for drinks every night. Apparently I had made a few comments that caught someone's attention, and the last night he flat out asked me, "Are you a nudist?" With everyone watching and waiting for my answer, I naturally said yes. He just smiled and said "I thought so - my boyfriend is, too." Turns out three of us in the group were nudists, we acknowledged it and then kept right on talking and drinking.
I have never been outed as a nudist before but I have shared it with people and did the same thing later touched base with them to get a feel of their thoughts and most distanced themselves from me because I was a nudist I think most people are too close minded and well ignorant to be open to other peoples different feelings about things. Nudists are in hiding because of this , I will say to me being nude is this times being gay how like 20 years ago you would not dare say to someone you are gay now it is like who cares tell everyone, but telling them you are a nudist gets you that same negative judgement they dealt with so long ago. Even the few people I know who know I am a nudist, never will ask or say one word to me about it.
Gays are very vocal, both politically and otherwise. Gays have been so effectively vocal that the United States Supreme Court has come around to accept same sex marriage.
Nudists are not so vocal; although we have such organizations as AANR and TNS.

It's not that gays are vocal, it's just that along the way, we stopped allowing the rest of society to make us feel ashamed of who we are anymore. Once that happened, once we stopped allowing other people to define us, things began changing for us. The nudist community still needs to have that moment. We are still allowing others to define us because some are afraid to tell their stories and explain who they are. Until that happens, little will change.
I also agree with the lack of being vocal for nudism, like you never see anything or anyone promoting nudism, even in bookstores you will not find a book about nudism, but a full section about sexual nudity. There are magazines for gays now, why not have AANR make a new magazine to put out on bookshelves. And let it have nude images in it as well as information and be true to it do not use paid models to be nude get real nudists to submit their images to be published for all to see.
In the UK there used to be a nudist magazine called H&E, not sure if it is still in circulation as don't see it in newsagents anymore.
