Passage Key access by Jet Ski
Return to DiscussionsIt would be very doable by jetski. I wouldn't try to swim it unless you are olympic level; but mainly because of the current at bean point (north end of Anna Maria Island). Once you are say a hundred yards out you have passed the tidal channel which is about 25-30 feet deep and then the bar that forms Passage Key actually starts up and it is chest deep and climbing from there on in.
I take small sailboats out pretty routinely and it is a pretty easy sail in something like the Windrider for up to 3-4 people.
You could approach from Egmont as well but it is a little longer run. Probably wouldn't do a jetski alone but if you had a group of them in case one stalled out or something, even that would be doable.
