Next scheduled WNBR- Houston, TX 9/14/24
Return to DiscussionsI have made my reservations to finally do the Houston WNBR after attempts the past 2 years I have a room booked at a house with a clothing optional (nude for me) pool and hot tub. Unfortunately it is 28 miles from the start / finish point of the ride but that shouldn't be a big deal, I still have not decided if I want to do the 15 hour drive, or fly in (free with points) and rent a car and bike. The pros of driving is that I can bring my own bike, drive most if not all of the trip nude, although this won't add any states to my nude driving map since I did do some nude driving when I was in Austin in 2022. The cons are of course 15 hours driving vs a 2-1/2 hour flight of course the usual extra time associated with flying. The pros of flying are of course the time and potential cost savings by using my Southwest points. The cons are I would have to rent a car and a bike and that would eat up most of the savings, and the biggest con is the last 2 times I flew anywhere, I caught Covid so most likely I will drive.

If you do the Montpelier next year you can add 4 states to your nude driving, 1 or 2 for nude gas stops and, if you are willing to take a short detour, one clothing optional beach, Gunnison.

I flew in for 2019 and rented a car that the bottom of scraped the shitty roads. (Katrina damage) The place I stayed provided me with a bike that desperately needed servicing so I used their bike for free, and they got it serviced for free. Win-win.
in 2021, I drove in with my own bike. my SUV has enough ground clearance to navigate the not much better shitty roads there.

Right now, I am researching doing Mexico City next year that I think will be on the traditional second Saturday of June and that should be a touch warmer than Montpelier that time of year. Plus, with the exception of Canada I have never traveled outside the continental US. Since it is a 35 hour drive, I would fly in and so far found rooms (air B&B or MR B&B) and rental bikes to be pretty cheap. I have looked in to Montpelier a bit, but the p[possibility of cool or cold weather like in Toronto scares me. I wish they would do it later in the summer although that did not help much with Buffalo.
FYI, Gunnison was the first legal clothing optional beach I ever attended. It was abut 40 years ago, I was in a town called Red something to look at a car I was interested in and went to Gunnison the day after. While the car turned out to be totally misrepresented the trip to Gunnison was nice other than the cold water that made it worth it. That is when I discovered social nudism.

Adding another country to the list of places you have been nude certainly would have appeal.
Have you ever considered a clothing optional resort in the Caribbean? Closer to you than Mexico.
Be careful about the law if you go to Mexico. You don't want to wind up in a Mexican jail nude!

Red Bank is one of several larger towns near Gunnison Beach. It is a lot nicer now than it was 40 years ago.
When you went, I think Gunnison was one of several relatively isolated beaches and lakes that were unofficially clothing optional. It became official a little later than that as I recall.
In 1999, the state of NJ started requiring clothing on all previously unofficial clothing optional venues on state property.
When I went to my 30th high school reunion in 2001, one of the rangers whose duties included enforcing the new policy was there, along with several people who had violated it. While there was no open confrontation, you could sense the tension.

So then your second New Orleans WNBR was when you drove nude in Alabama. Mississippi and Louisiana?
Did you make a nude gas stop in any of those states?
