Return to DiscussionsThanks to whatever/whomever/whyever fixed it. There's a lot to be thankful for in a place that costs me nothing to use and does include some pleasant interaction and the occasional bare body. If it's attached to the WWW, there will always be the idiotic & annoying to contend with. The bright part is that besides the spammy noise, at least there are no pop-up ads . . . yet.
So what about the gardening, those of you here who are more than simple onlookers?
Here at WTR, we have pushing towards 90 residents, and some of them really do put forth some effort to pretty up their green spaces. Others either leave their lots to a bunch of grass or ignore the outside altogether. The diverse views between the extremes still entertain the eyes to a degree, lending the area we live in here in the park model section - with generally very small differences between the buildings - at least some alternation. Different is good!
RIght now our outside is soaked & when it's like this, our backyard turns into something we like to call Lake Champagne. I did get to prep the larger of our two veggie beds last week before the Pux, PA groundhog's prediction came to pass, so when this stint of overflowing chill passes I should be able to throw some early seeds in there and see what happens. Last year's late plantings of peas and radish and cilantro got chewed down to nearzero by probably deer, with only a few radish still, but a surprisingly robust comeback for the cilantro once I threw down a new cover Mom gave us for Christmas. I counted two dozen plants growing up from next-2-nothing. Hell, I think we're going to be making guacamole a bunch this winter if that keeps up. Weird how avocado prices have dived, huh? The scary number stands at 1,436 days, but who's counting?
The 22 kinds of seeds I put between wet paper towels yesterday represent a lot of work for the near future, if that technique works. If not, with this early a start I'm hopeful I can try again in the more standard way, seeds in a dirt medium and patience. Trying a new soil from Back to the Roots if/when that is decided.
Any other stories or advice from the unclothed masses who actually read my dangerously long posts?
I need to get cracking on seed prepping myself. Also its about time to move my chicken manure compost pile into the garden so I can till that down in before spring planting takes effect. I haven't decided if I am going to do my entire garden in veggies this year, or do a small native wildflower bed on one end to keep the pollinators coming back.
