I know a number of members are green thumbs. I need to remove some weeds (dandelions, ivy vines, and other small things) from my landscape bed which contains some shrubs. I removed some of the larger ones manually. Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of the other stuff? I also have some moss growing there. I thought about some of the available herbicides, but I'm not sure how they will affect the things I want to keep. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I've used Glyphosate (sold as tumbleweed, Roundup, etc) to remove nettles from under a privet hedge. Sprayed on the leaves, the plant draws it in, it puts on a growth-spirt that kills the roots. The secret is to spray it on theweeds when they are at their fastest growing rate. That way they absorb the poison better. (a farmer gave me that hint)If any gets on the leaves of the shrubs (in my case privet) just pull the leaves off so the pioson does not get drawn into the plant. When I did that The nettles were bigger than the privet and were choking it. Now the nettles are gone and the privet is 8ft high. Glyphosate also works on dandelions, bind weed and lots of parrenial plants. Always use it when they are at maximum growth and get it on the leaves of the plants you want to kill. It does not affect the soil
