Any & all Nudists who have & shall enjoy a Nude hike, of any length, along any trail, well trod or self-blazen; whether amidst tall timbers in a rich forest, parallel to caressing waves along a sandy beach, circuitously passing ageless stones in a high desert or wherever the proximate terrain allows for spending several hours hiking Nude & feeling the Freedom of brushing against the Wonders of...

Return to DiscussionsBarefoot if hiking along the beach, but usually wear good Teva sandals when hiking nude. Desert hiking requires something on the soles to protect them from hot sand and thorns/cactus spines. Plus you can cover more ground in more comfort. I use a hiking stick if in an area with snakes so no need for heavy boots.
I've gone barefoot on the beach and got my foot cut. I still do it where I think it's safe but the rest of time time I wear crocs. They're safe, comfortable, and slip off easy when required.
I have walked barefoot on grass too which feels great, but any other times it's safety first. Like many on here, the souls of my feet are too soft to resist most things
I much prefer to be barefoot when naked in nature. Makes me feel more connected to the earth and truly naked. Exposed to the elements and feeling of the materials under my feet. Unfortunately I haven't had much opportunity for naked hiking, which to me is more relaxing than a nude beach. The couple times I've managed have been typically for short stretches in remote areas where wild animals (black and grizzly bears and cougars) are another consideration. Sometimes I've kept shoes on in case I've needed to escape across an area not suitable to barefeet and I also need to keep something on (a belt or vest or backpack) to have bear spray handy.
I recently wrote a blog about this (see my page - blogs). The short version is my personal favorite for hiking naked, or hiking in general, are Vibrum Five Finger shoes. It is about as close to being barefooted as you can be, while still protecting the bottom of your feet. I have a problem wearing much of a shoe when I have shed everything else.

I find them comfortable but they make your feet work and you still feel rocks and things when you step on them. Just not as bad. If you like going barefoot, you would like them. They also make them with different sole thicknesses. I prefer the thinnest ones, but I also have a more beefy pair.
