Hiking in So calif
Return to DiscussionsI am in the San Fernando Valley.
When the weather is warm enough, I go hiking up by Lake Castaic.
Deep Creek is great for nude hiking as no one cares if you are nude. The only problem is the long drive to get there. (Driving there nude does help)
Its about 45 minutes in 1 hour out with a lot of elevation change but its not bad. You can be naked on the whole hike and even in the parking lot at the trailhead.
That sounds awesome. Thanks I think I'll have to make sure I work that into my itinerary!
I've done that hike many times and although I was usually clothed for the hike (naked the moment I got to the hot springs) I did pass a few naked hikers on the trail, so I can confirm that you can hike naked there and that people DO hike it naked. As for the non-nudists - anyone going to the hot springs (the only place that trail leads) better be prepared to see naked folks anyway, so should be fine.
Deep Creek is my favorite place to go. It's my "touch earth" place. Can't recommend it enough. The good news is that it's actually not easy to get to it, and that keeps out a lot of people who don't really want to make the effort.
I hike naked in Borrego Springs area. De Anza Borrego Desert State Park. So many areas with no one on the trails. Right out the back door. Henderson Canyon. The delightful ridge just west of Borrego Springs. Hellhole Canyon. Maidenhead Falls (stand nude under the falls for a great shower at the top of the hike). Choose your canyon. No one here! Plus, try the great washes and canyons near Mecca, south of Palm Springs. There is a yahoo nude hikers group that organizes day hikes there. AND, they also have a phenomenal full moon hike every month, right above Palm Springs! I went one warm moon night with 50 guys. Amazing!! Afterwards, one hiker invited us all to skinny dip at his big pool. Enjoy!! Namaste!
