A Minor Panic
Return to DiscussionsWhen hiking nude, my habit is to hike awhile, then ditch my cloths and other belongings and hike nude with no "emergency" cloths with me. I always stash my things off the trail to avoid them being found by other hikers. But on my last hike, when I returned, I couldn't find my stuff! I (thought) I knew where I'd hidden them, but I couldn't find them at all! My cloths, my car keys, my cell phone...everything...missing. I began contemplating having to walk out naked to seek help at the trailhead, potentially risky and embarrassing. Finally...finally...I found my things. Turns out I'd remembered wrong where I'd put them. Whew! Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Nope I never leave my phone and car keys behind. The risk of snake bite here in Queensland means thats a rookie move. If you get bitten you'll need to call for help (walking circulates the venom faster) and ideally you can give your rescuers your car keys!
Haven't lost my stuff hiking on trails, but i have temporarily lost my phone and valueables at the nude beach. I bury them near a corner of my towel when i go walk down the beach. In this instance i guess the wind had blown my towel a bit from where i'd left it. Not fun. I eventually found my stuff but it was a very panicky 15-20 or more minutes. Now i've learned to put stuff on my towel and mark the spot in other ways. Hiking i walk a bit as you before stripping, but then carry my stuff in a backpack just in case for if/when i hear people. Really fun to do anything nude, but without fines or arrest of course!
