However, I damaged the joint behind my little toe, which lead to a cyst forming. I saw multiple doctors about my foot pain over five year, and no one diagnosed it. They just wanted me to wear orthotics. First hike of 2024, it ruptured like a pimple. There were a few medical missteps and I ended up with a antibiotic resistant bone infection. I was going to lose my little toe and part of my fifth metatarsal bone. Just before the operation I broke my leg, which ironically saved my foot. The moral to the story is, be careful with your feet.
