Nude In NYC
If you're a nudist/naturist living in NYC, or visiting, here's a place to connect with like-minded people.
Fire Island Pines Beach
Return to DiscussionsI heard that the national seashore is now enforcing the nudity ban on the beach (not just the Meat Rack). I understood previously that they were not enforcing the ban on the beach between the Pines and Cherry Grove because the considered it a "community beach." Does anyone have information on this change? media coverage or official statements?
Here's some not-so-good news from someone in Males Au Naturel (posted with permission):Nude beach policing - yes on the weekend the Rangers were driving around telling people to cover up (and ticketing those they found having sex in the dunes/meat rack). They only have jurisdiction over the area between the Pines and Grove, which is unfortunately the main nude beach. If you go in front of the houses, at least at the edge of the Pines, the Suffolk county police don't seem to care. That said, I didn't see any rangerson Monday.
I am spending the week in The Pines and me and my friend spend the weekend nude by the Meat Rack section of the beach. The beach was crowded with other nude sunbathers and nothing abnormal happened. I spoke with other nudists friends and they have been hanging out in the same area the weekends before and no ticketing was observe. It was a nice sunny nude weekend. I will come here in three weeks. Will keep you posted.
Has anyone considered emailing the Park Service and asking?
Great idea. Let us know if the parks service responds.
I'll be at the Pines beach on the far eastern end this Saturday for the MAN pool party. I'll stop by the the area between FIP and CG too.
I was at Fire Island Pines beach yesterday. I started in Cherry Grove. I encountered a naked couple (man/woman) and asked if they had had any problems with the nudity bad; they said no. Along the National Seashore between CG and FIP (in front of the Meat Rack), I passed a few naked sunbathers; it was early (10AM). I attended a clothing optional yoga class near Ozone Walk on the east end of FIP. Only 2 of us were nude. Later in the afternoon, a few of us sunbathed nude in this same area. I observed pockets of nude sunbathers and swimmers in the traditionally clothed section. I observed a few naked guys walking along the water as well. I didn't go back to the area in front of the Meat Rack so I don't know how it was later in the day. The entire day I did not see any rangers nor any enforcement activity. However, I continue to hear accounts of warnings by rangers.
