Nude In NYC
If you're a nudist/naturist living in NYC, or visiting, here's a place to connect with like-minded people.
Fire Island Pines Beach
Return to DiscussionsI heard that the national seashore is now enforcing the nudity ban on the beach (not just the Meat Rack). I understood previously that they were not enforcing the ban on the beach between the Pines and Cherry Grove because the considered it a "community beach." Does anyone have information on this change? media coverage or official statements?
What did you hear? and from whom? My understanding also was that nudity was still being allowed (as it should be on the National Seashore) on the beach between the Grove and the Pines. Does anyone have any official information? Has anyone seen any ticketing taking place on the beach?
One of the guys at Wednesday (June 10, 2015) night's Males Au Naturel social said that one of his friends (I think someone who lives in the Pines) said the national seashore is now enforcing the nudity ban on the beach between the Pines and Cherry Grove. So it's hearsay (not that I don't believe him). But that's why I posted it here to see if anyone can provide some verification....
That's depressing! It's the only nude beach left in the NYC area unless you want to make the trip to Gunnison. Damn Fire Island was paradise... what's going on??? Are you sure the ticketing was just for being nude on the beach? or was somthing else afoot?
Well it may not be fact. I've heard that they are cracking down on activities in the Meat Rack. Perhaps what was witnessed was ticketing not for being nude on the beach but a follow-up to something that happened in the Meat Rack, not on the beach itself???? Anybody know any more?
I was out there this weekend. The word was that warnings and/or citations were being issued for nudity in the area between the Grove and the Pines, but that you could still be naked in front of each community. I checked out the usual naked beach between the two communities, and there were people hanging out--and no one was naked. The guys I spoke with there (reliable people--the usual naked suspects) said that verbal warnings were being given, and that citations or tickets were expected to be given. Very distressing, especially since that has been an established and accepted nude area for decades. I wonder why the change...really bad.
