Naked Sumo Wrestling
Return to DiscussionsLately I've been really into sumo wrestling and hold my own "matches" using a big mat with a ring on it as well as my heavy standing punching bag that bops around.I follow sumo technique and rules to knock it out of the circle, and sometimes it even wins when it bops me and knocks me back/over lol! It's really fun and it's a great workout!
It's also one of those rare occasions where I think it could be fun to wear something (the mawashi otherwise known as the sumo loin cloth) to add authenticity, but everywhere I check they're really expensive so I just sumo wrestle totally naked like I do everything else. Still a very fun experience and I don't think of myself as any less of a sumo wrestler for not wearing a loin cloth. I actually think of myself as a rebel sumo wrestler who has tossed away his loin cloth and is thus always naked.
To preface this, I'm all for nude wrestling. For sure... But elite athletes train to do their task mostly as they do it. If you have some news reports about olympic swimmers training (not doing something just for fun, but really training) nude, I'd love to read it. But, I suspect, you won't find it because it isn't out there.
Concerning training nude to swim, I was referring to 40 or more years ago.
There is plenty of current evidence of men training shirtless for the there athletic activities I noted. I will provide some links when I have more time.

Actually if you search on training shirtless for the activities, you can find plenty of examples.

There's no reason to train something that is different from actual competition.
Makes me wonder. Since athletes in the ancient Olympics were nude for competition, training and ceremonies, did they just stay nude throughout the time when they were there?
I'm almost always as naked as I can possibly be without a single man made thing, so whether it's athletic or relaxing or work or anything else I'm going to be naked when doing it. It just seems like it's not a far stretch at all to be doing some things naked anyway such as that which involves minimal clothing like a sumo mawashi or a swimsuit.
