Nudity And Nude Scenes In Movies An
This group is for all those who love seeing nudity on film or TV, either seeing actors and actresses naked or group scenes of nudity. There is often a sexual component to much film nudity. This is about the nudity and body exposure or natural expression of nudity, rather than the sexual intent. It's for a discussion on how nudity in films might have influenced their own views on the naked...
Memorable Nude Swimming Scenes
Return to DiscussionsI got thinking about skinnydipping and nude swimming scenes in movies and one that stands out is in the movie The Return Of The Secaucus Seven. It was filmed in New Hampshire directed by John Sayles. It's about a group of friends in their mid 30's coming together for a reunion 10 years after college. When the way bigger and more professionally produced movie The Big Chill came out a few years later there was alot of criticism that it was kind of a rip off of this film. It's a group of young people coming to terms with where they are in their lives, individually and in relationship to each other. Some of the acting isn't great but it's a really nice film and it has a fun skinnydipping scene. The group goes to a local swimming hole and the men all get naked and dive off the rocks and swim and get really playfully while the women (don't get naked) but sit and talk more seriously but watch the guys and comment on their playfulness and briefly about their physiques. There are some brief scenes of couples in bed in the act of making love, but they are covered with only the obvious suggestion of nudity.
Buster and Billie from the 70s- Jan Michael Vincent full frontal.
I just checked out Buster and Billie and its a great nude swimming scene! The video quality in the clips I found on youtube weren't great, kinda fuzzy. I'm going to look for a better copy somewhere. I want to see the whole movie. Thanks!
Yes, Blue Lagoon is a classic! Thanks Mapjock.
And thanks Noodengr2, I'm gonna have to check out that White Collar episode. I got thinking about skinnydipping as a thing, like when its referenced or talked about in a film but where you never really see the nudity. Like I'm remembering Sally Field and Ron Perlman in Norma Rae where they go for a swim and she tells him ""You got a skinny butt". Its funny I remember her saying that but I don't think we actually see them naked. The reason I'm mentioning it is because when I was a boy I saw the film version of Peyton Place where the high school jock and his girlfriend say they are going skinnydipping, then they get seen by an older couple who mistakes them for Rodney and Alison. (Peyton Place is set in NH so we're all acquainted with the story and its location.) I always wanted, even as a kid to go to a place where I could swim naked like that. When I looked at the clip of Buster and Billie it reminded me of what we don't get to see in Peyton Place.
Dont forget the brief nude outdoor bathing scene in the movie Yentl.
Great point! It was very memorable! It's the same kind of moment I mentioned in The Swiss Fsmily Robinson. Only we actually get to see Mandy Patinkin naked. I loved that scene and it's such a good example of how nudity is used to great effect and meaning to the story.
I remember the scenes mentioned above. Another one that comes to mind is Summer Lovers, with Peter Gallagher, Darryl Hannah and others. I recalled the nude scenes at the ocean. When I looked up the old reviews today, there were a lot of comments about nudity in sex scenes too. Oddly, I had only remembered the outdoor ocean/swimming scene. Same director that did Blue Lagoon.
The other I thought of today was the very brief skinnydipping scene in Gallipoli. A moment of delight for soldiers in an otherwise very dark situation. Whew, that movie is way more memorable.
I just love to skinnydip outdoors. It looks like the opportunities I had planned for the next few months are cancelled. By mid-summer my remote lake spots may have warmed up enough (still ice covered today). Patiently awaiting warm weather.. And having the occasional reverie about past skinnydipping fun.
I'll have to check out Summer Lovers, I don't think I've ever seen it. I mentioned Gallipoli and Mel Gibson in a separate topic discussion in this group, I think the one on Unexpected Nude Scenes. It's such a powerful movie and I love the way the men strip down and run into the ocean, so carefree and playful as it begins. Then the darkness of the war literally falls down upon them while they are all naked and vulnerable out there with the bullets raining down on them. Stunning.
