Off Grid Living , Renewable Energy

I am an independent contractor building an off grid home in the national forest. This group is for folks interested in knowing more about the project, but also a place to share your own construction related stories. This group is not only for construction professionals, I would love to hear from everyone who has tried to build something naked, from a bird house in the garage and up. Lets have...

So I converted an old 10x12 wood shed into a Cabin, I'll be staying out there on my days off to work on the House, It is 2 floors, upstairs is just a loft for a bed but I can stand in it. The main room has lots of windows, a wood stove and internet via satellite. It was just gunna be a place to crash, but decided to go a bit farther, It is well insulated, A floating floor and full power. I added log siding, tile and a fridge to make it home. Being able to make coffee is a huge plus, It still needs lots of work, the upper deck and ext. siding but the block on the House takes precedence, if it snows before the block and pads are done (about the 1st week of Oct if I'm lucky), I cant do much till next June, after our last freeze. If I can get that done, then I can work out there any nice day in the Winter
Mick
More soon, Thank you
