Older Nudists

For the over 50s. We all have wrinkles and battle scars and no longer look the way we used to. But our minds are still young.

The Older I get, the less inhibited about nudity I am

Do others agree. Growing up in a conservative household, nudity was not something we were allowed to do. However, as life experiences happened, I realized that it was a more comfortable way to live and that we are all models of the same vehicle. All bodies should be perceived as beautiful at any age.

My concern with being nude - whether in a locker-room or out in nature - has never had anything at all to do with what people will think of my body. Rather, it has everything to do with the completely irrational response/actions that textiles or homophobic males might take against me for feeling comfortable in my own skin. For example, in the locker-room, I have no doubt that the reason why so many males change in stalls or shower in their underwear is because they think other males in that locker-room are gay and might hit on them. Or that by being nude, they are inviting some fellow gym member who is gay to hit on them.

Out in nature, if I am found nude by some belligerent textile, they could either report me to the corresponding authorities (State Park ranger or sheriff) or even worse, physically attack me. I recall reading somewhere on this website how a fellow naturist hiking out in the woods was chased for a short while by some woman on horseback! As long as belligerent textiles and homophobes prevail, I will be super careful about where I choose to go nude - when not at a nudist resort.

I certainly agree with you. I've been a naturist for over 20 years now. I have gotten very comfortable in my own skin, and I will surely get nude outdoors, at the beach, for example.

But of course, we/I would shed our clothes in a safe environment, somewhere secluded in nature and nobody around. At times, it's great when there are open, like-minded people around us whom I have encountered at the beach from time to time.

I would say I think the same and since retirement I spend more time nude around the house it's relaxing and fun and I gone outside forgetting I was nude once or twice ,also I realized I have a neighbor 2 houses down who likes to tan topless around her pool ,and been wondering if I should tell her I am a nudists

Certainly true for me. Since I retired, I am nude well over half the time in warm weather.

Interesting discussion and insights. The observations of @nudeingoodyear strike a chord with me: Perhaps it is age and maturity, but I see a common thread also. The longer we are exposed to nudity the less we are concerned about size & looks.

For me, conditioning and "de-conditioning" have also been significant factors. I wasn't raised in a particularly conservative home, and nudity wasn't considered a big deal until I reached puberty. Around that time, nudity stopped being the norm at home, which felt strange and confusing. Despite going through that awkward phase, I always knew I enjoyed being nude.

Throughout my life, I've always considered myself to be an "old soul." This has led me to form many treasured friendships with nudists who are more than 25 years older than me. Over the years, I've learned a great deal from their wisdom. At that time, people my own age tended to avoid nudity, while the older individuals embraced it with indifference. I was comfortable with their nudity, and they welcomed me in my natural state.

I believe I've gradually turned into one of those older, indifferent individuals, and this feeling intensifies with every passing year. Im simply nude is a normal state. Most people expect that I'll be the first to undress and the last to put clothes back on, when needed. Being naked gives me a wonderful sense of freedom with fewer concerns.
