Why would a blind guy want ot go to a sun club?
Return to DiscussionsWhile I was on my way to go to a sun club for the first time, a stripper in a bar ask, "Why would a blind guy want to go to a nudist resort?" As a legally blind man, I am able to see a little, and I have other senses that would enjoy the feel of the warm sun and the breeze as it runs over me.
Wow...and I would say, for the same reason a blind guy would go anywhere else...for the social aspect, for the wonderful feeling of the sun on skin, many more reasons! Sheesh, what an idiot your questioner was!

My first wife is african-american with brown skin.
People would ask what "the point" of being a nudist was for her, since she obviously wasn't looking for a full-body tan.
Not every nudist is a sun-worshipper. It can also be about the feeling of being naked and the people you meet.
Different situation but same idea.
Our neighbor couple at our club is blind. They drove 5+ hrs one way and were members for many years. It was amazing what he could do working on there place. They were true nudist no question and perhaps that's why they participated with or with the gift of sight. I watched him do light construction, re roof his place and do light construction by feel to maintain his place. Worked on anything mechanical by feel as well.
I once heard Mickey sawing lumber at night. I said hey it's night time and dark out and your running a saw? He retorted "So?" We miss that couple as they finally resigned the membership.
I think there are many, even within the nudist/naturist lifestyle that think it's ALL about getting that all over tan. Not often but I've also been asked, "why would you want to come and get a tan, you're already naturally brown!?"
This lifestyle is more than tanning and getting that all over tan. It's a philosophy and mindset and it's about getting together with others that feel and live the same way. If I think back on those that asked this question of me, I remember that some of these people were "weekend nudists, vacation nudists and ONLY get naked at clubs or resorts and are not naked at home.
It stands to reason that Nudony's first wife, being black, enjoyed the lifestyle for what it offered to her social and mentally and NOT for just getting that all over tan. A blind person's reasons are the same. Anyone that would question it has the mindset that nudism/naturism is about seeing others naked and that's really not the philosophy of those that truly believe in it.
My wife is fair skinned. In the beginning of our nudist life, she believed wholeheartedly in the philosophy and still does to this date. She used to get an amazing all over tan but had to stop after having some skin cancers removed. When she'd had enough sun, she'll cover and we've had some nudists question that; "why come to a nude place and cover up?" Di has finally come up with a response that seems to shut these people down. "I've had some skin cancers removed. I don't want to end up with a melanoma and become so ill that I can not continue to come to places like this and be naked. When the sun's down and I can safely be nude, I'll for sure be nude... not that it's any of your business!"
