Why Locker Room Nudity is Dying?
Return to DiscussionsWhat I got from the article is that some guys are scared that another guy will look at them or that something "gay" will happen. That's really, really dumb. Sorry to be crass about my opinion but it's just stupid to even worry about who might look at you or, worse yet, who YOU might look at. Literally half the people on the planet have dicks and people just need to get over it.
I'm of the older generation here on this topic, and it is simply amazing to me. I have been herded around naked most of my life, from Junior high through high school, the military, my career as a firefighter and gyms all along the way. Naked in the locker room. Naked in gang showers. And I am very well balanced sexually, self assured and confident in all situations. And the last thing I worry about is if someone sees my, what they call junk.
Trust me, God didn't put no junk on my body and what he did pit here, I take care of.
What happens when these guys that come in and wrap a towel around them and proceed to dress under the towel, what happens when they finally score with a girlfriend. Do they even have the self confidence to undress with them? Do they turn off all the lights and disrobe and crawl under the sheets, hoping they are not seen? Or are they so lacking that they fear someone will see what they "got"?
I don't need to see them, I got my own parts and I like my own. But what kind of future does it spell out for the nudist community? These young people are not joiners to begin with, and if it comes to joining a nude resort, bet they pass on that one. And as the next generation passes along, there will be no more outdoor nudity, nude clubs, resorts and beaches. A great heritage gone.

Agree with all of it. I also find the term junk to be in poor taste and part of the problem. No wonder so many young men are afraid of exposing their genitals when society refers to them as junk.
I think it depends on the kind of locker room. Most gyms these days no longer make it a social place, it more of just a "changing room" now. Older gyms had large spa areas where you were free to roam around nude with other nude men enjoying a whirlpool or steam bath together. Football players and athletes still embrace this type of male bonding. Gyms have become like fast food now, just in and out.
Well it's not totally dead, just not as open and common as it use to be. I think it just depends on the gym, the time of day and the guys that are in the locker room. I've been to the same gym, and I find the culture of nudity changes just on day of week and time. I've had some guys be nude but then see them another day, they don't go nude just because there are others around that were not there the day before. It comes down to the comfort level of the individual that day.

Totally agree. So with thinking that locker rooms are like fast food most using drive tru. Locker rooms need to be more like Starbucks. Just sitting around relax and unwind while on your laptop or just socialize. This is what happens in a Korean bathhouse/spa. Would love to see a fitness chain grab on that concept especially now with the MGTOW movement getting stronger.

I make a point of working only with places offering public nudity if that's historically a part of the building or area. I make sure its followed. Nothing drastic just gentle direction. Men's lockers and showers with no naked men is ridiculous.
I agree that locker rooms used to have a social part of them. I remember several gyms where I belonged that had TVs and chair/couches in the locker room. We would all sit around, usually nude, and talk. It was truly a sex free zone and no one seemed to notice or care that we were nude.
