Return to DiscussionsThere are some positions I can't get into in the 10 sec allowed on a self timer. I found a mobile phone (cellphone) selfie stick with a remote control. The bit that holds the phone attaches to the top of a tripod. So now I can set my phone up and get into position without a rush. What's more I can see what I am about to take on the phone's screen.
I have something similar. It's a small tripod with flexible legs and a clamp that will hold a smartphone. I also have a bluetooth remote shutter release that works with the phone. With this rig, I can set up the phone and aim it (sometimes using a flat surface, and sometimes using the flexible legs to grasp something like a pole), then get into position and take the photo(s) at my leisure.
I got a set that had the remote, selfie stick, and tripod. Not expensive at all from Amazon, and works well. The phone mount will even attach to a camera tripod as well, giving you more options.

I just ordered the the three in one package and the flexible tripod
should have it on Monday.
