Return to DiscussionsI had been a shaver for many, many, many years. About a year and a half ago ... I had my first Brazilian Wax and I don't think I'll be shaving anymore or ... not near as often. Waxing is expensive but it lasts much, much longer than shaving. I had my wax treatment 10 days ago and though I have several hairs growing back, those are the only hairs I have growing back in that length of time. I take the tweezers the pluck them out and I'm as smooth as the day I had the treatment. In about 4 weeks, I will go back in for another treatment and if I stay up on it ... I can easily go two months between waxing and remain smoother than I would be if I shaved every three days. ;-)

I might have to check into this. I tried to wax myself once and only drew blood. Have been shaving every few days for the past few years but just recently have taken a break from it and let it grow back in. About time to start back.
I shaved my body from the neck down after soaping myselfin the shower each morning. No nicks no problems. But the stubble was back by the evening. Now I've had a full body wax - everything from the neck down finishing with the intimate parts. It felt good andlasted well. I'm having another one on Monday.

About time to start back.I think that doing it yourself ... you're a bit more cautious and timid about the technique. My esthetician always gives me hell if I go too long between treatments (last one was about three months with shaving in that time span) because the hair is longer and thickerand it stings a bit more. She says ... "if you stay on the every 6 weeks routine, the hair is finer, there's less of it and it stings much less. Then we can go to every two months and you'll not feel a thing." I will go and see her the first of the month and I'm sure this next treatment will go much smoother and with less sting than the previous treatment.
Another thing she said was that I needed to ensure I'm exfoliating my pubic area, my scrotum and penis. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, helps produce new skin cells, and toughens up the skin for the wax treatments. I always use one of those puffy scrubber pads to wash/bath with and it really helps. I've thought about a do it yourself wax job but my esthetician gets to ALL those places I could never get to and it's a thorough job. I only wish my wife would agree to allowing me to have my back waxed, my butt waxed and some of my upper arms and legs. My esthetician says that she can "feather" the smooth area to the hairy area so it's not a drastic line of smooth and hair. I'll keep working on my wife but she loves my "fuzzy butt."
