Return to DiscussionsHow many have told themselves " I'm only getting one tattoo." how did that work out lol . For me not very well. I got 1 . Then it's needs a little more . For me I wont be 1 , it will be 1 Moore. LOL.
Its definitely an addiction in some ways. I guess what moderates us or some of us is the costs. I would love to have full sleeves. My back to be finished ( it can stand alone as is but it wasnt my completed idea/ mural) and then maybe add some to my thighs. Due to my profession and I guess my personality I will never put any tattoo where a business suit/ uniform cannot cover. So I will never be 100%. But I do love it. And the artists usually get a kick out of my comical faces I make when dealing with sensitive places. Lol

I've always heard that your next ink is your favourite and having just got my 11th which is my biggest yet I think that saying holds true as I'm already thinking about #12.
I have one. I got it 8 months ago. It's a1990's comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. Its Calvin holding a stuffed Hobbes. I want at least one more to augment the one I have. Then 2nd one is going to be Live Hobbes. What I have now is really colorful (Red, orange and yellow. It really turned out well. I got the Tattoo as a cover up of a scar I had. I don't regret the Tattoo one bit.
We all start out with the "just one tattoo" mentallity. This soon passes into a distant memory. To me it came to a realisation that it might be time to reconsider any more after I got my last tattoo just before I got married. My usually tattooist didn't have any appointments free and I really wanted this little 2" oval design with the words "Property of" my wifes name and our wedding date, very simple 30 minute job.
So I went down to one the bikie run studio, showed them the design and they said they could fit me in that afternoon. When they asked where I wanted it, I said "on my butt". Now I need to layout some things, this was a pretty rough studio, did excellent work but the usual clients and artist would easily be paid extras on a Mad Max movie. I was also wearing jeans and a long sleeve T-Shirt so none of my tatts were visible.
After the receptionist stopped laughing as they thought they had a tattoo virgin she said come back after lunch. Fast forward an hour or two I walk back in and everyone looks up, they're expecting me to jump off the table as soon as the first needle hits. "You won't be able to sit down for a week", and "This is the worse place to get a tatt as it will hurt like hell" and other encouraging words of wisdom came from the laughing gallery that had formed round the artist space.
After ensuring them I was going to pay even if I decide not to go ahead, I dropped my jeans and lifted the leg of my shorts. Dead silence in the whole studio, the artist finally said "I don't think I can do this, I'm not sure it's going to fit".
My turn to smile, I've had over 350 hours of tattoos over the past 5 years.
And yes I got my little tattoo and so far it has been my last (to date).
