Return to DiscussionsMay is National Stroke Awareness Month. I had a stroke last Fall when a friend of mine was coming over to meet me for coffee. When he got there I couldnt talk, I had a droopy face and my right side was paralyzed, but he recognized the signs of a stroke, called 911, and within an hour of having had the stroke, I was in the hospital. Be sure you know the signs of a stroke as well.
Face - is it drooping?
Arms - can you raise both of them?
Speech - is it slurred or jumbled?
Time - to call for help.
