Tolerant Nudists
This group is for nudists who are tolerant of others who are not the same as them. For example there are some who have good reasons not to show a picture and others who want a quid-pro-quo picturewise. Some are outgoing whilst others are still finding their feet. Some are sticklers for the rules whilst others are only human. TN has lots of members and the richness is in the veriety
Erections
Return to DiscussionsWhat do we think about erections amongst nudists? An erection is a natural phenomenon and can happen without the man having a sexual thought. I remember once gathering for a nude feast and a man, already naked, was embarrassed by getting an erection as a young woman undressed nearby. No attention was drawn to it and it subsided. Surely if an erection is ignored, or hidden, there is no harm.
hi
I fully agree , well when i started nudism i had them frequently but very friends who got me into it , complimented rather than admonish me!!! and specially the females told me no need to hide myself of remain seated ( jokingly teasing me that i was hiding a very nice sight !!) ..this eventually made me more self confident !!!

A sensible question. An erection is like the extended nipples on a woman. It is part of being a human, it is a natural physical reaction that is sometimes uncontrollable and unintentional by the man. Why should we hide it or be embarrassed by it? Afterall, this is a nudist website, so what do we have to hide?
Regarding erections, I don't understand what the issue is with it and this whole discussion about it. It just goes back to the intensions of getting the erection and the 'norm' of it. It's up to the gathering (group gathering, beach, resort, ect ect) and what is felt is 'proper' and 'acceptable' but you have to take into consideration of what happens with the erection. We all know that they happen sometimes without any direct intensions by an individual mostly when younger than older (not to say an mature male doesn't have that happen. There are those that will show an erection to state their 'manhood'. To say it's a complete no-problem of a male to get an erection while nude is not so clear and cut. We've all seen it in situations and even with comments on post TN, some do what it to happen, enjoy it when it happens and look forward to it. So are we saying 'social nudism' allows that as an acceptable norm? The non nudism world has impressions that nudist are sexually active when nude but we all know that is not true, so for a newbie to show up, male or female, and to see an erection, what are they to think? Most will say an erection is sexual and we need to take into those views and make effort that we take proper action to those situations.

I personally don't see a problem with guys getting or having erections as nudists/naturists. At it's most basic level, all an erection is, is a rush of blood to the penis to make it hard. The point there is that any man having one does not have to have been sexually aroused for it to happen.
Far too many people assume that an erect man is there for more than he is !
Erection shaming is intrinsically derogatory towards masculinity. It seems to me that there are a lot more people who have a negative attitude towards erections on truenudists than there are in the real world among REAL nudists! In the real world in naturist company an erection is never a problem unless the man attached to it is a problem!
Erection shaming is so wrong. Why should people have or be negative to seeing one at a nudist/naturist location ?
As is pointed out, unless the person to whom the erection belongs is there actually doing something with it (masturbating etc), then I do not see the problem for anyone, regardless of what society is supposed to think.
Men get them for many reasons, not just the obvious one ! If an erection is deemed so wrong then answer me this. Why is it accepted that a woman can lay there on a beach with her legs well and truly apart so that anyone and everyone can see her clitoris/labia etc !! Why is that deemed acceptable, yet a boner is not ?? Some people find the sight of a woman's vaginal display quite vulgar, but it's not as disgusting as a hard willy !!
I always seem to come back to this when I read or chat about discussions like this. Don't matter if your straight, gay, bi or anything else. Far too many people assume that a guy with a boner is there for sex, when that is not the case for most guys. Exhibitionists can be a nuisance, as they are or appear to be out there to shock or cause a commotion. Not every male erection is caused by sexual stimulus.
What if a guy has had a snooze on a beach and wakes up with a stiff one, that is usually called morning wood, but that does not mean a guy has been dreaming about having sex or that he is even horny, he could be bursting to pee. Does that make him having an erection wrong ? Not in my eyes. You also need to understand how the male human body works when waking up and why so many guys have an erection.
Put simply, regardless of the nudist setting, an occasional erection is not or will ever be a problem, it happens ! People need to stop being complete prudes about one of the most natural things in the world.

This paragraph above, in your words, appears to imply that there is an "intention" to a male erection. An erection is a perfectly natural thing to happen to all men, so it is a normal thing.
Who says it is up to the people/place of a gathering to decided what is deemed as "proper" or "acceptable" ? Your also automatically stating that something is going to happen with said erection, that is "assumption". Why does/do almost every person think that a guy with an erection is going to do something with or about it ? You don't know why that man may have an erection, your assuming it is sexually motivated ! Point of fact is, neither you or the other people around know.
We all know that they happen sometimes without any direct intensions by an individual mostly when younger than older (not to say an mature male doesn't have that happen. There are those that will show an erection to state their 'manhood'.
Yes, there are some guys that will stand there and show off their "manhood", they are assuming that if they have a large penis/erection that it will attract what they are after, that counts as exhibitionism and arrogant ! A big penis does not make any man a "fabulous lover", most of the time it makes them look stupid, stood there with a silly assed smug look on their face.

It should not be a problem unless the male has handled himself to obtain an erection in front of others, that is more often than not classed as "Exhibitionism", or he is using a mobile phone showing porn or sexual pictures to get erect. A good, old fashioned non sexual erection is never a problem, unless that person chooses to make it sexual, then something should be said or that person should be made to stop and or leave.
So are we saying 'social nudism' allows that as an acceptable norm? The non nudism world has impressions that nudist are sexually active when nude but we all know that is not true, so for a newbie to show up, male or female, and to see an erection, what are they to think? No one is saying that it should be allowed as the norm. "Context" is the word your looking for, whether social nudism or private nudism. The Textile world is ignorant to what nudism/naturism is about, that those of us that love to get and be naked are all frustrated sex addicts, or nymphomaniacs, if they don't ask us why we love to be and get naked and the reasons behind why we do it, they will never understand, because they either don't want to or are afraid they might like the idea of it and want to try it. It does not turn either woman or man into a sex addled maniac, it's just a different way of life, a more natural way of living.
I fully understand that anyone who is a "newbie" to nudism/naturism is going to have a bit of a problem with erections at first, most guys did, but they and you learned to control it, it's a natural and normal thing to happen.
If anyone new to being naked socially see's a guy erect, what gives them the right to assume it's automatically a sexual thing that brought an erection on ? Answer to that is nothing, other than being closed minded and ignorant to how the human body works for one, at the end of the day, it's just an erection, nothing more. One little point of fact here, the very obvious thing for a man is an erection, whether it's caused by the sight of seeing someone naked or the breeze from the air, in a woman's case erect nipples are the obvious thing there, yet no one is saying anything about whether any woman with stiff nipples is sexually turned on or simply likes the look of what she may be looking at on a beach or whatever location, why is that deemed acceptable, granted nipples are not as big or obvious as an erect penis, but the "context" is exactly the same.
One last thing. for either sex, if one get's an itch in the crotch area, it's more obvious for a guy scratching his genital area, as there is more to move about, that does not mean he is trying to get himself erect, women can appear to be a little more discreet when scratching an itch, but who's to say that she may not be getting herself worked up while doing so ? Appearances can be deceptive !
It is naturally to have an erection. As nudists one can see it. And because its naturally and its a normal and helthy reaction anybody cares it. In the beginning as a naturist i was shy. But realizing i am not the only one my timidity pased off
