RE: Your favourite place for wild swimming?

I live in Nottingham, but have found a perfect place to go on
hottish days like today, just North of Loughborough. Its the South
bank of the River Soar, a little upstream (East) of the main line
railway bridge. The precise spot is the furthest from the
Loughborough to Stanton road, and is the northern most corner of
the Loughborough Big Meadow conservation area. Beyond this corner
is farmland, but also possible, although getting nearer to the passing trains. On the road there is room to park 3 or 4 cars where the Great Central Railway viaduct crosses
over. The unique features of my spot are: (a) There is no navigation on this section of the River Soar. The
navigation route is via the Grand Union Canal through the middle of Loughborough. (b) From parking the car, the 15 minute walk along the
river bank is entirely within the Loughborough Big Meadow
conservation area, not farmland. (c) Because of the Midland main
line railway bridge, it is physically impossible to walk to my spot
along the river bank from the opposite direction. (d) In my 7 visits
this summer, I have never seen anyone on the farm land on the other
side of the river. It really is totally secluded. (e) The river bed
is firm clay, about as good as it gets, and the water around 5 feet
deep, so I'm never out of MY depth. (f) The current is
typically about half swimming speed, and the temperature at the moment is like the
sea at Fuerteventura in January! (g) Apart from the perfect
swimming, the river bank and edge of meadow are great for sun
bathing, and getting rid of any white bits!

What's possible not to like???

RE: Your favourite place for wild swimming?

Only just found this group and therefore this thread. Using @Lagoud's excellent description of his favourite location, I have been able to do as @LifePose requested and even though I've yet to visit, I'm pretty certain of my map marking.

Two arrows added; 'P' for the suggested parking spot and 'S' for the swimming spot. Looking on Google aerial view, it even looks as though the swimming location might be screened from the 'Cross Britain Way' long distance footpath on the opposite bank, by some trees.

I will try to get to visit the spot later in the year when the weather is a bit warmer, and let you know how I get on.
